Magic Brawl and Retro Brawl are separate private-server projects from Magic Team, not modes within the official Brawl Stars service. Magic Team describes Magic Brawl as an updating project and Retro Brawl as an archived version recreating a 2018-era experience. Both are offered through downloads outside the official app stores, and Retro Brawl progress does not transfer to official Brawl Stars.
What are Magic Brawl and Retro Brawl?
Magic Team presents both as private servers related to Brawl Stars. A private server is a separate service: it has its own app build and progress rather than connecting your play to the official Brawl Stars service. Magic Team’s site says its content is “not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by Supercell” and that Supercell is not responsible for it. That is the operator’s disclaimer, not an official statement from Supercell.

Versions and availability can change. MagicBrawl.app also listed Retro Brawl as version 12.98 when accessed on October 8, 2026. A separate promotional page gives a different Retro Brawl character count, so the roster should not be treated as independently established. What does “retro” mean here?
Magic Team calls Retro Brawl “the original version of Brawl Stars from 2018.” In practical terms, that is the operator’s description of a preserved older-style experience, not a promise that every detail matches a particular official build or that the server is actively updated. The project is explicitly marked archived, and its listed version is 12.98.

The linked download flows describe Android APK and iOS IPA installs for both projects. These routes are outside Google Play and the App Store, respectively. On Android, the operator’s instructions require allowing installation from outside Google Play; on iOS, the linked route uses an IPA rather than an App Store listing.
- An APK or IPA downloaded outside an official store does not receive the same store review context as an app listed there.
- The reviewed pages do not provide an independent malware scan or security audit for these builds.
- Only download from a source you can verify, and consider the access or permissions the app requests before installing.

No transfer should be expected. MagicBrawl.app says Retro Brawl progress cannot be transferred to official Brawl Stars. Because the services are separate, treat any progress, unlocks, or other data on the private server as belonging to that server rather than your official account.
