Each is devoted to a different game in the series: FINAL FANTASY VI, VII, X, or XIV. The original tabletop release followed on June 13, 2025.
What are the Final Fantasy Commander decks?
They are four ready-to-play Commander products, each built around characters and themes from one FINAL FANTASY game. Wizards announced their names, source games, and color identities together in its May 12, 2025 announcement.
| Deck | Source game | Color identity |
|---|---|---|
| Revival Trance | FINAL FANTASY VI | Red-white-black |
| Limit Break | FINAL FANTASY VII | Red-green-white |
| Counter Blitz | FINAL FANTASY X | Green-white-blue |
| Scions & Spellcraft | FINAL FANTASY XIV | White-blue-black |
The color identity indicates which colors of cards a Commander deck can include; it is not a ranking of strength. The four products offer different ways into the crossover, so the source game and its characters are the clearest starting point when choosing between them.
What comes in each deck?
Standard Commander Deck
Each standard version is a 100-card deck: one traditional foil face commander, one traditional foil featured commander, and 98 non-foil cards. The box also includes a Collector Booster Sample Pack, a reference card, and a deck box.

How did Wizards approach the four game-specific designs?
Senior game designer Daniel Holt, lead designer for the decks, said the team chose four games for their story and character depth. In Wizards’ June 12, 2025 designer feature, he explained: “Because of each game’s depth of story and character pool, we decided to pick four game titles and make entire Commander decks devoted to each one.”
Holt described the aim as recreating the identity of each featured game within a Commander deck. That meant choosing cards not only for how they fit an archetype, but also for their connection to story moments, items, character interactions, and the fictional world. For Revival Trance, the design framing draws on the game’s ensemble cast and graveyard/reanimation themes, with Celes bringing the group together.
