The Magic Scorpion Charm is an ELDEN RING talisman that boosts magic damage at the cost of physical damage negation. To obtain it, complete the relevant part of Preceptor Seluvis’s quest and return Amber Starlight to him. Do this before advancing Ranni’s quest beyond the Fingerslayer Blade: Seluvis’s reward can become unavailable later in the playthrough.
What the Magic Scorpion Charm does
The Elden Ring Wiki’s fan-maintained Seluvis guide, marked updated September 11, 2026, reports that the talisman increases magic damage by 12% and reduces physical damage negation by 10%. The guide cautions that values may change with balance updates and says to trust the game if its current data conflicts with those figures. These are guide-reported values, not an official developer statement or an independent test. Read the guide.
In practical terms, the charm trades defense against physical damage for more magic damage. It may suit a magic-focused character willing to accept that defensive cost; it is less attractive when physical survivability is the priority. That is a build-based consideration, not a tested comparison.
How to get the Magic Scorpion Charm
- Meet Seluvis through Ranni’s quest. Speak with Ranni, then follow the quest route that allows you to meet Preceptor Seluvis and advance his own quest.
- Continue Seluvis’s quest until you can retrieve Amber Starlight. The charm is tied to returning this item to Seluvis; the potion branch is not the charm’s reward step.
- Return Amber Starlight to Seluvis. Continue through the resulting interaction and access his inventory and rewards to obtain the talisman.
Keep this route separate from Seluvis’s earlier potion choice. The guide says refusing the potion or giving it to Gideon does not prevent the later quest steps. Giving the potion to Nepheli, however, ends her questline.

When the charm becomes unavailable
Complete the Amber Starlight reward step before progressing Ranni’s quest past the Fingerslayer Blade. The guide warns that Seluvis later dies and his rewards are lost for that playthrough, so postponing this part of his quest can lock you out of the charm on that character.
