Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallIn January 2026, some Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease kits reportedly contained Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cards in the foil promo slot. MTG Salvation said the mix-up exposed more than 30 cards ahead of their planned previews. Wizards later added all 61 rare and mythic rare cards to the official gallery. The set launched on March 6, 2026, so the leak and the gallery update are now past events.
What happened with the TMNT cards?
MTG Salvation reported on January 19, 2026, that some Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease kits included TMNT cards where the foil promo card was expected. Players posted images online, and the outlet described more than 30 cards as accidentally exposed before their scheduled preview reveals. That figure is the report’s threshold, not a verified count of every card or kit involved. The consulted reporting does not establish how many kits were affected or what caused the mix-up.
The reports describe the leak as an accidental exposure. They do not establish a manufacturing or fulfillment root cause, so there is no confirmed explanation of how the cards ended up in the promo slot.
What were stores told to do?
MTG Salvation attributed guidance to a Wizards post: stores should replace an incorrect TMNT promo with the appropriate Lorwyn Eclipsed promo when possible. If a store did not have enough correct promos, players could use the incorrect cards instead. The report also said stores were encouraged to contact their Wizards Play Network (WPN) representatives. The consulted coverage does not include the original Wizards post, so these instructions are reported secondhand.

How the accidental leak became an official reveal
The initial exposure and the later gallery update were separate events. On January 22, MTG Salvation reported that Wizards had added all 61 rare and mythic rare cards to the official TMNT card gallery after every rare and mythic rare had circulated through unofficial online sources.
| Event | Timing | Status and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Cards in prerelease promo slots | January 16–19, 2026 prerelease weekend, as reported by MTG Salvation on January 19 | Accidental exposure; more than 30 cards were reported, not a verified total inventory. |
| Rare and mythic rare gallery update | Reported January 22, 2026 | Official gallery publication; all 61 cards in those rarities were added, according to MTG Salvation. |
Wizards said the preview season “will also certainly look different than any of us were expecting,” and that it still had “some amazing pieces of art, treatments, cards, and ways to play left to share” while celebrating more than 40 years of TMNT through Magic. MTG Salvation attributed these remarks to a Wizards response; no named speaker was identified.

What was in the TMNT set?
Wizards and Nickelodeon announced Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on October 1, 2025, as a Universes Beyond set. The announcement listed Turtle Power! Commander decks, an exclusive Pizza Bundle, Showcase Scene cards, borderless Headliner cards featuring TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman, and Turtle Team Up, a cooperative experience for two to four players. Wizards’ design feature also described support for Turtle typal decks, with Turtle legends and team-up cards; characters it discussed included Slash, Jennika, Lita, Metalhead, Venus, Tokka, and Rahzar.
The announced global tabletop release date was March 6, 2026, and the Wizards product archive retains that date. The launch is therefore in the past as of October 8, 2026. The original announcement named Amazon, TCGplayer, and local game stores as preorder outlets; that announcement does not establish current stock or availability.
