The original preorder window for Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY has passed: prerelease events ran June 6–12, 2025, and the global tabletop release was June 13, 2025. This is now a post-release guide to choosing among the set’s products. Wizards’ release-era U.S. MSRPs are useful reference points, not current prices; retailer stock and live listings have not been verified.
What products were released?
The original June 2025 lineup covered ready-to-play decks, boosters, bundles and an introductory kit. Wizards later announced three additional products for December 5, 2025. The release dates distinguish the original lineup from those later additions; they do not indicate what is currently in stock.

| Commander deck | Ready-to-play multiplayer Commander | $69.99 | One fixed, 100-card deck; four themes were released. |
| Collector’s Edition Commander deck | Commander play with foil cards | $149.99 | 100 cards in Surge foil, plus tokens and a sample pack. |

| Chocobo Bundle | Chocobo-themed collecting and opening | $109.99 | 10 Play Boosters, themed lands and cards, a promo and a click wheel. Later addition released December 5, 2025. |
| FINAL FANTASY VII Commander Deck – Game Edition | Limit Break Commander play plus a game tie-in | $99.99 | Mechanically identical to the earlier Limit Break deck, with a Cloud promo and a digital game redemption code. Later addition released December 5, 2025; described as English-only and available through North American core hobby distribution. |
Prices are Wizards of the Coast’s official release-era U.S. MSRPs, not current asking prices. Retailer prices, stock, delivery and regional availability can differ. Product contents and historical MSRPs are documented in Wizards’ FINAL FANTASY collecting guide and its product announcement; details and release timing for the later products appear in the WPN holiday release announcement.
Which product should you choose?
For ready-to-play multiplayer Commander
Choose one of the four original 100-card Commander decks if you want a complete, fixed deck for multiplayer play rather than a randomized pack. The themes are Revival Trance, Limit Break, Counter Blitz and Scions & Spellcraft. The product information establishes their themes and contents, but not that one is objectively best; choose the characters and play style that appeal to you.

- BATTLE ALONGSIDE ICONIC FINAL FANTASY HEROES—Join forces with Terra, Herald of Hope in the Revival Trance deck, Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER in the Limit Break deck, Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian in the Counter Blitz deck, and Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed in the Scions and Spellcraft deck

- COLLECT SPECIAL ALT-BORDER CARDS—Every deck also comes with a 2-card Collector Booster Sample Pack containing 2 alternate-border cards of rarity Rare or higher
The December 2025 FINAL FANTASY VII Commander Deck – Game Edition uses the same mechanics as the original Limit Break deck. Its Cloud promo and digital game code are additions, not a different Commander deck. The Game Edition’s stated North American hobby-distribution and English-only availability applies to that product, not to the whole set.
For learning with a friend
The Starter Kit is the clearest entry point if you want two decks ready for a first game and an included Play Guide. Unlike buying a single Commander deck, it is built around two-player introductory play.

For Draft, Sealed or opening randomized cards
Choose Play Boosters for limited formats such as Draft or Sealed, or if you want a randomized opening. A booster does not guarantee any specific card. A box contains 30 Play Boosters, making it the relevant format for a group planning multiple openings.
For premium treatments
Collector Boosters are the collector-focused randomized option and had a substantially higher release-era MSRP than Play Boosters. Wizards said English-language Collector Boosters were the only product to contain a serialized golden Traveling Chocobo: 77 uniquely numbered copies, numbered 1 to 77. That is a rarity fact, not a likelihood estimate; buying a Collector Booster does not mean a buyer is likely to find one.

- SHINING FOIL CARD IN EVERY PACK—Every Play Booster also includes at least 1 card with a shiny Traditional Foil treatment; in 20% of packs you’ll also get a Traditional Foil Land card
The Collector’s Edition Commander decks serve a different purpose: they are fixed Commander decks with all 100 cards in Surge foil, rather than booster packs that randomize the contents.
For a mix of sealed product and accessories
The Bundle and Gift Bundle combine Play Boosters with lands and accessories; the Gift Bundle also includes a Collector Booster. The later Chocobo Bundle adds themed contents and a click wheel. Compare their contents with what you actually want rather than relying on the word “bundle,” which does not mean each includes the same mix.

For displayable FINAL FANTASY scenes
The Scene Box is a later product centered on six foil borderless scene cards and an easel, with three Play Boosters and six art cards included. It belongs to the December 2025 additions, not the original June release lineup.

Wizards’ original guide described a Buy-a-Box foil Herald’s Horn promotion for local-game-store preorders of a Play Booster or Collector Booster box, while supplies lasted. That was a historical promotion tied to the preorder period, not an offer to assume is available with a purchase now. Prerelease events likewise took place June 6–12, 2025, ahead of the June 13 tabletop launch; a prerelease is an event window, not a current buying option. Wizards’ prerelease explainer describes the event format.

Legality and set names
Wizards listed the main FIN set, which contains 309 cards, as Standard-legal. It listed FIC Commander and FCA Through the Ages cards as Commander-, Legacy- and Vintage-legal; individual cards are also legal in formats where they were already available. Since format legality can change and depends on the individual card and event rules, check the current rules before relying on a card’s legality in tournament play. These set labels are not interchangeable with product names: for example, a Commander deck is a product, while FIN, FIC and FCA identify card groupings.
What the historical prices can—and cannot—tell you
The figures in the table are official U.S. release-era MSRPs, not today’s market value or a promise that a retailer will sell at that price. A product may be listed above or below its original MSRP, and its availability may vary by seller and region. Compare the actual listing price and contents before buying; no current retailer inventory or asking price is established here.
