Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY launched for tabletop on June 13, 2025, so it is no longer an upcoming set. It brings characters, items, and moments from all 16 mainline FINAL FANTASY games to Magic, with products ranging from boosters and beginner decks to Commander decks and collectible scene displays. Here’s how the product line differs and what Wizards’ original prices do—and don’t—tell you today.
What is in the FINAL FANTASY Magic set?
Wizards of the Coast’s product lineup includes Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, four original Commander decks, Collector’s Edition versions of those decks, a Bundle, Gift Bundle, Prerelease Packs, Starter Kit, and Scene Boxes. The products are not interchangeable: some are aimed at opening packs, some at playing, and others at learning or collecting. Wizards’ official product page describes the set and its formats.
Wizards later announced additional products for December 5, 2025: more Scene Boxes, a Chocobo Bundle, and a FINAL FANTASY VII Commander Deck – Game Edition. These followed the initial product wave rather than changing the original release date. The official collecting guide covers the product range and the announced MSRP figures below.

Which FINAL FANTASY Commander deck is which?
The four original Commander decks each spotlight a different mainline game. Wizards’ June 12, 2025 designer feature explains the choice: senior game designer and lead Commander deck designer Daniel Holt wrote, “Because of each game’s depth of story and character pool, we decided to pick four game titles and make entire Commander decks devoted to each one.” Read Holt’s official design feature.
| Deck | Featured game | Standard deck contents |
|---|---|---|
| Revival Trance | FINAL FANTASY VI | Ready-to-play 100-card deck, tokens, Collector Booster Sample Pack, reference card, and deck box |
| Limit Break | FINAL FANTASY VII | Ready-to-play 100-card deck, tokens, Collector Booster Sample Pack, reference card, and deck box |
| Counter Blitz | FINAL FANTASY X | Ready-to-play 100-card deck, tokens, Collector Booster Sample Pack, reference card, and deck box |
| Scions & Spellcraft | FINAL FANTASY XIV | Ready-to-play 100-card deck, tokens, Collector Booster Sample Pack, reference card, and deck box |
Each standard deck is described as ready to play, making it a more direct starting point for multiplayer Commander than buying a single booster. Collector’s Edition versions use surge foil cards; choose between editions based on whether that treatment matters to you and the price you find.

Holt also noted that FINAL FANTASY called for a different approach from other Universes Beyond properties: “With most Universes Beyond properties, we have a single canon that all the products fall within. With the FINAL FANTASY franchise, we took a different approach.” The separate game-focused decks reflect that decision rather than treating all sixteen games as one setting.
Is the FINAL FANTASY Starter Kit better for beginners than boosters?
If you are learning Magic with another person, the Starter Kit is the clearest fit in this lineup: it includes two ready-to-play decks and a play guide. A booster is for opening and collecting; it is not presented as a complete two-player learning product. For a beginner who wants an immediate multiplayer deck instead, one of the four standard Commander decks is the ready-to-play option.

Where can you buy the set, and are the original prices still current?
Wizards’ product page provides retailer options, including Amazon, but that does not confirm live inventory or pricing. Treat the MSRPs above as historical announced prices from the 2025 guide, not as current offers. Before placing an order, verify the exact product and edition, seller, language, condition, shipping terms, and current price on the retailer’s listing. Retail prices and availability may differ from the original MSRP.
