The announcement established their placement in the Game Boy – Nintendo Switch Online library; it did not provide details about game modes, mechanics or version differences. Nintendo’s MAR10 Day 2024 announcement described them as classic games featuring Mario.
When did they become available, and where?
Nintendo announced March 12, 2024 as the availability date. The titles were to be playable on the Nintendo Switch family of systems through the Game Boy – Nintendo Switch Online library. Nintendo’s announcement framed the release as part of MAR10 Day 2024.

What did players need to access them?
Access required Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Switch family system. Buying a console alone did not unlock the subscription library. Nintendo presented these games as additions to the service, not as separately sold Switch releases. The announcement describes the 2024 plan; it does not establish current membership terms or whether the catalog is presented differently today.

In its 2024 U.K. announcement, Nintendo described the broader retro collection as containing more than 140 classics at that time. That was regional, dated context—not a current count or a figure for the U.S. catalog. Nintendo UK’s MAR10 Day announcement provides that contemporaneous description.
