MARVEL Cosmic Invasion was revealed during Nintendo’s March 27, 2025 Direct as a Nintendo Switch game planned for the 2025 holiday season. That was the original window: Nintendo UK later listed December 1, 2025, for Switch 2, and Marvel now describes the game as digitally available on PC/Linux, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
What Nintendo announced
Nintendo of America published the announcement trailer on March 27, 2025, describing MARVEL Cosmic Invasion as a game that would “land on Nintendo Switch this holiday season.” The trailer introduced a cosmic battle against Annihilus and the Annihilation Wave, featuring Nova, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Phyla-Vell, Captain America, and other Marvel heroes. Nintendo’s Direct press release also included the game among the partner titles showcased that day and described it as launching that winter.
The announcement named Dotemu, Tribute Games, and Marvel as collaborators. Tribute Games developed the beat ’em up, Dotemu published it, and Marvel Games was involved. Nintendo’s announcement trailer and March 27, 2025 Direct press release document the original reveal and release-window wording.
What kind of game is MARVEL Cosmic Invasion?
It is a side-scrolling beat ’em up built around Marvel heroes fighting through a cosmic threat. Nintendo describes its presentation as full-color pixel art and highlights local play and online co-op. Steam also lists online co-op, shared/split-screen co-op, and cross-platform multiplayer, but those Steam feature labels do not establish exactly how multiplayer works between every platform or how many players each version supports.

When did MARVEL Cosmic Invasion come out?
The 2025 holiday-season window was Nintendo’s announcement-era estimate, not a current statement that the game is still forthcoming. Nintendo UK’s Switch 2 listing gives December 1, 2025. Release dates shown on regional store pages can differ, so that listing should be read as the date displayed for that specific market and platform rather than a universal date for every edition.

Marvel’s current game update page describes MARVEL Cosmic Invasion as available digitally. It lists PC/Linux, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This confirms digital availability across those platforms, but does not establish physical-edition availability, stock, or identical storefront dates in every region. Check the relevant regional store page for the platform and format you want. Nintendo UK’s Switch 2 listing and Marvel’s update page provide the listing and current availability details.
Is MARVEL Cosmic Invasion co-op?
Yes. Nintendo’s listings describe local play and online co-op, while Steam lists online and shared/split-screen co-op. The exact options can depend on platform; confirm the feature details on the store page for the version you plan to play. Steam’s cross-platform multiplayer flag, on its own, is not a guarantee of cross-play compatibility between every console and PC version.

What has changed since the announcement?
Marvel’s update page says the first update recruits Cyclops and the Thing. It also says a second update is slated for fall, but the page does not establish a precise date or detailed contents for that update. Consult Marvel’s live game update page for the latest status.
