No: Marvel Rivals’ Season 10 was not meant to establish a permanent one-hero-per-season cadence. Creative designer Guangyun Chen said two heroes were already planned for Season 11. The announcement matters because Season 10, which launched September 11, 2026 UTC, was the first season in eight to feature only one new hero: Gorr the God Butcher.
What the developer said about future seasons
In a September 9 report, PC Gamer quoted Chen reassuring players: “We want to reassure the community that a single-hero season isn’t the new normal.” Chen also said the team had already decided on two heroes for Season 11. Neither hero was named in the report, so their identities were not established by that announcement.
The statement addresses the immediate concern raised by Season 10’s smaller hero count. It is a plan for Season 11, not a published schedule for every season after it.
Why Season 10 had one new hero
PC Gamer reported that Marvel Rivals had released two heroes per season for eight seasons, a run of 17 months, before Season 10 broke that pattern. Chen described the season’s first half as focused on Gorr the God Butcher and one new map: “We’re locking our crosshairs on just Gorr the God Butcher,” followed by, “In the first half of the season we’ll be rolling out one new hero and one new map.”

For the second half, Chen said the plan was to shift attention to phases 3 and 4 of the Path to Doomsday events, with two new game modes. Details were expected closer to Season 10.5. These were announced plans; the announcement alone does not establish that every element later shipped exactly as described.

Marvel Rivals’ official news page listed the Season 10 announcement, “Season 10: Butcher’s Blasphemy // Dev Vision Vol. 21,” on September 9, 2026. It said the season arrived September 11 UTC and covered its map, events, costume series, and balance plans. The one-hero explanation and the specific two-mode plan were reported by PC Gamer from Chen, rather than enumerated in the official announcement.

What players can and cannot conclude
- Season 10 was an exception to the recent cadence, not an announced permanent reduction. Chen explicitly said a single-hero season was not the new normal.
- Season 11 was planned to have two heroes. The quoted report does not identify them.
