Yes: Marvel Rivals has a mode that allows duplicate heroes. It is called Free Fight, an Arcade mode using Quick Match objectives, with two hero bans per team. It was announced in September 2025—not as part of the October 2026 Season 10.5 update.
Can you use duplicate heroes in Marvel Rivals?
Yes. Free Fight removes the usual restriction on duplicate heroes. The official Season 4 patch notes describe its rules as based on Quick Match’s Domination, Convergence, and Convoy objectives, while allowing duplicate heroes. Each team can also ban two heroes, using the same ban rules as Competitive.
Free Fight was documented in the patch notes published September 4, 2025, ahead of the Season 4 update on September 12, 2025. It is an Arcade mode; the notes do not establish how often it appears in the live mode rotation or its platform-by-platform availability as of October 8, 2026. Check the in-game mode selector for current access.
Is Free Fight the new Season 10.5 mode?
No. Free Fight was introduced in 2025. The distinct mode highlighted in the official Season 10.5 notes is Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Infinity War. Those notes describe its squads and event dates, but do not specify whether duplicate heroes are allowed. Free Fight’s hero-selection rule should not be assumed to apply to it.

Season 10.5’s Infinity War event has a different format from Free Fight: six two-player squads, 12 players total, compete in rounds centered on the Infinity Stones. Its official event window begins October 9, 2026 at 09:00 UTC and ends December 11, 2026 at 09:00 UTC. The official notes do not state its hero-selection restrictions, so players should not count on picking duplicates there unless the game’s rules or a later official notice confirms it.
