Phoenix is Jean Grey, a Duelist who builds pressure by applying Sparks and detonating them, while flight and teleportation let her change position. As of October 8, 2026, her latest verified live Cosmic Flames damage is 60; a balance update scheduled for October 9 raises it to 65 and changes several other parts of her kit. Here’s how her abilities work, what the dated figures mean, and which Team-Up information is current enough to rely on.
Who is Phoenix in Marvel Rivals?
Phoenix is Jean Grey, a Duelist added in Season 3, which began July 11, 2025. The official hero page lists 250 health and a movement speed of 6 m/s. Those are published character-page figures, not a guarantee that every value has remained unchanged through subsequent patches.
How Phoenix’s abilities work
Her documented baseline kit combines Spark buildup, area damage and mobility. The detailed ability figures below come from the official hero page; treat them as page-listed values rather than a complete live-client verification of every number.
Cosmic Flames (primary fire)
Fire a projectile to apply one Spark; a critical hit applies two. When an enemy reaches three Sparks, they explode, damaging nearby enemies and applying one Spark to them. The hero page describes this detonation as healing Phoenix over time, but an upcoming balance update replaces that effect; see the dated changes below.

Telekinesis Burst (alternate fire)
Mark an area to send a sequence of three fiery explosions. The first hit briefly stuns; the next two slow. Hits apply one Spark. The hero page lists a 0.3-second stun, a 30% slow lasting two seconds and a 10-second cooldown. These specific values can be superseded by patches.
Dark Ascent (E)
Merge with the Phoenix to gain free flight and increased movement speed. The page lists a 50% movement boost and an energy resource that drains at 400 per second and recovers at 120 per second.

Leave an illusion, teleport in the chosen direction and detonate the illusion. The listed dash distance is 8 m; the detonation applies one Spark and has a 12-second cooldown.
Endsong Inferno (Q)
Rise and crash into a selected area, dealing damage with the blast and shockwave and applying Sparks. Its shockwave destroys enemy summons and shields and removes Bonus Health. A July 6, 2026 balance post set the explosion damage to 150 and removed the old Team-Up Anchor damage bonus. The hero page lists a 10 m explosion radius.

What is Phoenix’s current damage, and what is changing?
At the October 8, 2026 timestamp, the latest verified live Phoenix-specific adjustment in the dated official posts is from July 11, 2026. The October 6 post is for Version 20261009, scheduled for October 9, so those figures are announced changes—not October 8 live values.
| Ability or feature | Latest verified live figure | Announced for Version 20261009 |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmic Flames single-shot damage | 60 per hit, after the July 11, 2026 increase from 55 (official July 11 balance post) | 65 per hit, up from 60 (official October 6 balance post) |
| Spark detonation direct damage | not stated in the dated post cited here | 45, up from 40 |
| Spark detonation explosion damage | not stated in the dated post cited here | 20, up from 15 |
| Spark detonation survivability effect | The hero page describes healing over time (official hero page) | Healing removed; grants 5 Bonus Health for 4 seconds, capped at 25 |
| Endsong Inferno Spark application | The hero page describes Spark application but the cited dated post does not state a newer live count | Explosion and shockwave hits apply two Sparks instead of one |
| Hela Team-Up cooldown | not stated in the dated post cited here | Reduced from 12 seconds to 10 seconds |
The October 6 post describes the Phoenix changes as “The cosmic entity is burning hotter, exchanging self-healing for immediate bonus bulk to stay aggressive.” That is the publisher’s description of the announced changes, not a quotation attributed to a named developer.

Who does Phoenix team up with?
Two dated official posts establish useful, specific information, but do not provide a complete list of every currently selectable Phoenix partner as of October 8. The July 11, 2026 balance post confirms a Phoenix Team-Up with Rogue: direct and ricochet damage rose from 40 to 45, and its cooldown fell from 12 to 10 seconds. The October 6 post announces a Hela Team-Up cooldown reduction from 12 to 10 seconds for Version 20261009; that change is upcoming at the timestamp used here.
Be cautious with older labels. The official Season 9 notes describe a broad Team-Up system revamp, while Phoenix’s hero page still lists Mind’s Grace with Wolverine. That hero-page entry is legacy information and, by itself, does not establish Wolverine as her current partner. Nor should the former Team-Up Anchor damage bonus be mistaken for a current partner listing.

To assess a Team-Up in your own composition, check which partner is available and what the specific ability changes—such as its damage, utility or cooldown. The official posts cited here do not establish a complete partner roster or a ranking of the best partner.
How to approach Phoenix’s ability loop
Mechanically, the kit points toward applying Sparks and looking for chances to detonate them across clustered enemies. Use Telepathic Illusion or Dark Ascent to reposition, and consider Telekinesis Burst when a brief stun followed by slows could interrupt a target. Endsong Inferno brings area damage and the ability to remove enemy summons, shields and Bonus Health with its shockwave.
This is an explanation of how the published mechanics fit together, not a proven optimal rotation or a claim about competitive performance. No pick-rate, win-rate or matchup ranking is established by the cited official sources.
