Marvel Rivals announced The Thing and Human Torch for February 21, 2025. The official Version 20250221 patch notes say Season 1.0 ended at 8:00 AM UTC that day, marking the transition into Season 1.5. They do not explicitly confirm that the update became playable at that exact minute. The Thing arrived as a close-range Vanguard, while Human Torch joined as a flying Duelist.

When did Marvel Rivals Season 1.5 release?

Marvel Rivals announced The Thing and Human Torch would join the game on February 21, 2025. The official February 19 announcement gave that date, and the Version 20250221 patch notes state that Season 1.0 concluded at 8:00 AM UTC on February 21.

That 8:00 AM UTC time is the clearest official time tied to the season transition, but the notes do not say it was the precise moment the update or new heroes became playable. Treat it as the Season 1.0 end time, not a confirmed unlock time. The update divided Season 1 into S1.0 and S1.5, added both heroes, and introduced the Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park Convergence map.

The Thing’s Season 1.5 launch moveset

The Thing (Ben Grimm) launched as a Vanguard. His official launch-era hero page lists 725 health and 6 m/s movement speed. His kit is built around close-range pressure, disruption, and helping allies withstand damage.

These descriptions and numbers come from The Thing’s official hero page and describe his Season 1.5 launch kit.

Human Torch’s Season 1.5 launch moveset

Human Torch (Johnny Storm) launched as a Duelist with a flight movement mode. His launch-era hero page lists 250 health and 6 m/s movement speed. He uses flight and Flame Fields to combine mobility with area damage.

Attacks and abilities

  • Fire Cluster: Fires a splittable fireball. The launch page lists six charges and 5.5 damage per projectile.
  • Blazing Blast: Launches a fireball that creates a Flame Field. Its launch values are three charges, 45 impact damage, and 20 damage per second from the field for six seconds.
  • Flaming Meteor: Dives toward the ground, damaging enemies and detonating Flame Fields it hits. The launch page lists 40 damage and a 15-second cooldown.
  • Plasma Body: Enters accelerated ascent. The launch page lists two charges, an eight-second recharge per charge, and a four-second duration.
  • Pyro-Prison: Forms a damaging fire wall between Fire Fields. The launch wall lasts five seconds and deals 40 damage per second.
  • Supernova: The ultimate deals an activation shock wave and turns existing Flame Fields into Flame Tornadoes. The launch page lists an eight-second duration and 110 damage per second for the tornadoes.

These are the original figures and descriptions on Human Torch’s official hero page, not a guarantee of his current live values.

How the two launch kits differ

Hero Launch role and combat pattern Launch stat block Core kit focus
The Thing Vanguard; close-range pressure, enemy disruption, and ally support 725 health; 6 m/s movement speed Heavy punches, charges and leaps, crowd control, and displacement immunity
Human Torch Duelist; flying, mobile area damage 250 health; 6 m/s movement speed Fire projectiles, Flame Fields, flight, and field-based attacks

The comparison reflects their official launch roles and ability descriptions; it is not a ranking of which hero is stronger.

Are these still their current abilities and values?

No: this is a historical explainer of the Season 1.5 launch kits. Official balance updates changed Human Torch after launch. For example, an April 2026 balance post changed Plasma Body so it dashes 10 m on cast and then lasts four seconds. A June 2026 balance post also adjusted Plasma Body recharge and Flaming Meteor cooldown. Check the current in-game hero details or latest patch notes for values to use in present-day matches.
