Marvel Rivals Season 1.5 launched on February 21, 2025, as the second half of Season 1: Eternal Night Falls. The update added The Thing as a Vanguard and Human Torch as a Duelist, along with a Central Park Convergence map and other seasonal content. It is a historical update, not the current season in October 2026.
When did Marvel Rivals Season 1.5 launch?
NetEase’s Season 1 announcement described Eternal Night Falls as a three-month season split into two halves: Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic arrived in the first half, followed by Human Torch and The Thing. The Season 1.5 patch notes are dated February 20, 2025, and say Season 1.0 concluded on February 21 at 8:00 AM UTC+0. The update therefore went live as the second half of that season on February 21, 2025. NetEase’s Season 1 announcement and the official Season 1.5 patch notes document the timing.
What did Season 1.5 add?
The headline additions were two playable heroes, but the patch also expanded the game with a new map and seasonal activities. The launch notes list:
- Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park Convergence: a new Convergence map.
- New costumes: outfits for The Thing and Human Torch.
- Midnight Features II: a seasonal event, alongside Twitch Drops.
- Ranked-season updates: revised S1.5 ranked rewards and changes to career statistics.
The same patch notes mention an additional 0.5 seconds of overtime grace time in all modes, no substitute matchmaking near the end of Quick Mode matches, and improved match-loading speed. These are changes recorded at Season 1.5’s launch; they do not establish how those systems work in the current game.

How do The Thing and Human Torch play?
| Hero | Official role | Season 1.5 framing |
|---|---|---|
| The Thing | Vanguard | Ben Grimm is presented as a protector of the city. |
| Human Torch | Duelist | Johnny Storm is described as generating scorching flames. |
Those roles come from NetEase’s Season 1 announcement. They identify each hero’s assigned class, not a claim about their current competitive strength or tier placement.
What was their Two in One team-up?
The official The Thing hero detail page documents a team-up called Two in One. Human Torch can lift The Thing and slam him down, damaging and stunning enemies; afterward, The Thing enters a fiery enhanced state that strengthens his attacks. This describes the interaction documented on that page, not a guarantee that the current team-up roster or balance remains the same.

Did the heroes receive balance changes later?
Yes. The February 19, 2025 Season 1.5 balance post listed adjustments for Captain America, Doctor Strange, Groot, Magneto, and other heroes. A March 12, 2025 mid-season post later changed Human Torch’s Fire Cluster projectile speed and count, as well as Supernova’s energy cost and damage. It also cited competitive lineup examples that included Storm and Human Torch as a double-flyer composition. These are dated balance notes, not a description of either hero’s October 2026 tuning. The February balance post and the March mid-season post provide that release-era context.
