What new character and map arrived in Season 2?
Emma Frost joined the roster
Emma Frost made her Marvel Rivals debut in the Season 2 launch update.
Krakoa entered the map lineup
The update added Hellfire Gala: Krakoa, a Domination map. It joined the Competitive map pool, while Yggsgard: Royal Palace and Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya left ranked rotation. Quick Match and Custom Game continued to include all maps without rotation, according to the official Version 20250411 patch notes.
How did Competitive rules change?
Season 2 reset ranks by nine divisions
Players were demoted by nine divisions based on their final Season 1.5 rank. The patch notes illustrated the reset with Diamond I becoming Silver I.

New-player access and pick/ban thresholds changed
The minimum level for new players to enter Competitive became 15. The notes made an exception for players who had already completed at least one valid Competitive match. Pick/ban began at Gold III instead of Diamond.
Individual performance counted more in scoring
The patch notes said individual performance would carry greater weight in Competitive scoring: stronger performances in wins could increase gains, while losses in defeats could be reduced. The notes did not provide a formula or quantify the size of that effect.
What changed in missions and rewards?
Season 2 revamped missions, adding new weekly missions and rewards while adjusting the balance of daily and challenge missions. The share of hero-specific missions was reduced. The patch notes said the overall Chrono Token distribution would be maintained.

The Cerebro Database event offered the Mantis – Flora Maiden costume. The notes also advertised Scarlet Witch – Chaos Gown as a reward for completing nine matches.

Tournament features
- A redesigned tournament overview and faction search for the Knockout Stage
- Championship nameplate customization
- A Tournament Room option in Custom Game
- Pause controls for hosts and authorized players in tournament-room games; non-hosts could mark themselves away
- Global tournament regions renamed AMERICAS, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), and PACIFIC
What general and platform settings changed?
General features
The update added cosmetic gifting to friends, specific hero-form selection in Career Overview, rank leaderboards in Career, a push-to-talk prompt for voice chat, spectator rejoining in Custom Games, and room-host transfer.
PC graphics updates
An experimental shader compilation mode was intended to reduce memory use and in-game stuttering, particularly on systems with 16 GB of RAM or less. The patch notes warned that lower-thread-count CPUs using AMD FSR3 Frame Generation could experience occasional extra stutters. AMD FSR 4 support was added for Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards.

Console control updates
Console players gained settings for vertical deadzone sensitivity, acceleration delay, character-movement stick deadzone, and trigger deadzone. First-time players also received a reminder about default sensitivity, vibration, and trigger effects. The update further optimized focus memory.
What bugs did the patch say it fixed?
The official notes listed fixes involving notifications, text, spectator behavior in Custom Game, settings resetting, map terrain and sound, and several hero-specific issues. They also reported a fix for an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT brightness issue on PC, plus console mouse-input and button-prompt problems. The notes did not quantify how often these issues occurred or their effect on players.
