Marvel Rivals Version 20250808, the Season 3.5 update, began rolling out on August 8, 2025, at 09:00 UTC. It added Blade and changed ranked matchmaking, disconnect and AFK rules, and PC shader handling. The exact hero balance values were published separately from the general patch notes; the available record here does not establish a complete, authoritative list of those changes. Season 3.5 is a historical update, not the game’s latest patch as of October 8, 2026.
When did the Season 3.5 update arrive?
Marvel Rivals lists Version 20250808 as the Season 3.5 update, starting August 8, 2025, at 09:00 UTC. The official Season 3.5 patch notes identify Blade as the new hero. They also cover story content for Blade, Iron Man, and Rocket Raccoon; the limited-time Queen’s Codex event; store bundles; and a Mantis Twitch Drops period scheduled for August 8 through September 5, 2025.
What ranked matchmaking rules changed?
The update revised which ranked players could queue together, with group-size limits varying by rank:
| Rank | Maximum group size |
|---|---|
| Bronze, Silver, and Gold | Any size except five |
| Platinum, Diamond, and Grandmaster | Three |
| Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All | Two |
These are the limits stated in Marvel Rivals’ 2025 Season 3.5 notes; they should not be assumed to describe the rules in later versions.

What happened to disconnects, AFK players, and surrender votes?
Season 3.5 revised surrender, disconnection, and AFK handling. Under the official notes, a first-round disconnect that remains unresolved for 90 seconds can trigger a surrender vote. The notes also define invalid matches to include disconnects during loading, the ban/pick phase, hero selection, or the first 70 seconds of a match. Compensation varies by rank, so there is no single compensation amount that applies to every player.
What changed for PC players?
The update removed the mandatory shader-compilation wait at first launch and introduced shader preloading in the background. Marvel Rivals cautions that entering a match before preloading finishes may cause performance issues. The performance test tool also began recommending graphics settings based on its results.

What are the exact Season 3.5 hero balance changes?
Hero balance was covered in a separate Season 3.5 balance post, distinct from the general Version 20250808 patch notes. The official post’s complete change list and numerical values are not established by the accessible information here, so exact buffs, nerfs, and ability adjustments should not be inferred from a partial secondary search-result excerpt. That excerpt names Doctor Strange, Groot, Magneto, Thor, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Star-Lord, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Adam Warlock, Cloak & Dagger, and Mantis, as well as Loki and Luna Snow Team-Up changes, but it is not an authoritative or demonstrably exhaustive roster. For verified hero-by-hero numbers, consult the official balance post rather than treating this partial list as complete.
What other fixes did the update include?
The general notes also list fixes for terrain issues, hero jump heights, and costume audio controls. Venom and Spider-Man received separate keybinds for simple and manual swinging.
Is Season 3.5 still the latest Marvel Rivals patch?
No. Season 3.5 refers to the August 2025 update, not the current patch. Marvel Rivals’ official balance-post index, accessed October 8, 2026, lists later versioned posts, including Version 20261009. Players looking for the current balance state should use the newer version notes; this article covers the Season 3.5-era changes only.
