Marvel Rivals’ October 9, 2026 balance notes do not announce a nerf to triple-Strategist teams or a roster-wide Strategist reduction. The most relevant system-wide change came earlier: a September update lowered how much healing and damage Strategists convert into Ultimate Energy. Meanwhile, the October 9 notes mostly improve healing and sustain for Adam Warlock, Gambit, and Jubilee. Those patch values suggest possible effects on team rhythms, but they do not show how triple-Strategist teams perform in matches.
What does the October 9 patch change for Strategists?
Marvel Rivals published its Version 20261009 balance post on October 6, with the changes dated for October 9. As of October 8, the update was announced but not yet live, so its listed effects should not be treated as already deployed. The official Version 20261009 Balance Post focuses on individual abilities rather than a specific team composition.
Adam Warlock: stronger healing with the Ultron Team-Up
With the Ultron Team-Up, Cosmic Cluster healing rises from 16 to 18, and the Team-Up’s enhanced healing field rises from 5 to 7. These are increases to healing values, not a reduction to Strategists’ overall effectiveness.
Gambit: faster charge stacking, with limits to his ultimate’s reach
Charge time per stack for Healing Hearts and Breaking Spades falls from 8 seconds to 7 seconds. The same post reduces the target-search range and ally/self jump boost for Ragin’ Royal Flush, while lengthening the Jubilee Team-Up effect. The changes therefore mix improved access to Gambit’s charged abilities with adjustments to his ultimate and Team-Up.

Jubilee: more healing, shorter blind
Jubilee gains continuous self-healing during Sparking Sprint, and Firework Finale healing increases from 150/s to 180/s. Blade Team-Up adds ally healing. In exchange, Dazzling Detonation’s blind duration falls from 1.5 seconds to 0.8 seconds. Her listed changes are mixed, but the healing and sustain adjustments are increases.
The broader Strategist nerf happened in September
The more relevant roster-wide change is in Marvel Rivals’ September 11 balance update, announced on September 8. It lowered Strategists’ healing-to-Ultimate-Energy conversion from 70% to 65%, and damage-to-Ultimate-Energy conversion from 55% to 50%. The official Version 20260911 Balance Post described this as a shift in how the entire Strategist roster generates Ultimate Energy.

Mechanically, lower conversion means Strategists generate less Ultimate Energy from the same amount of healing or damage, all else being equal. In a team with several Strategists, that could matter to how often their ultimates are ready. The notes do not quantify that effect or establish that triple-Strategist teams became less viable.
The September post also reduced Cloak & Dagger’s Terror Cape vulnerability effect from 28% to 20% and the area healing from a Lightforce Dagger hit from 25 to 20. These are hero-specific changes alongside the broader conversion adjustment.

No. The October balance post does not target triple-Strategist composition directly, and the September post supplies no composition-level results. Neither official post reports triple-Strategist win rates, pick rates, sample sizes, or competitive adoption. Ability changes alone cannot establish how often teams use the composition or how well it performs.
The cautious reading is that the September Ultimate Energy reduction is a system-wide change that may affect teams with multiple Strategists, while the announced October changes strengthen several Strategist healing tools and also adjust specific utility. Any claim that these changes definitively kill, preserve, or reshape the triple-Strategist meta would go beyond the published evidence.

The October 9 balance post was published October 6 and labels the update for October 9. As of October 8, those changes were upcoming. Check the official Marvel Rivals Game Update page and Balance Post Index for official update information; an announced date is not confirmation that a patch has deployed in every region or platform.
