When did Marvel Rivals Season 4 launch?
NetEase scheduled Season 4 to begin on September 12, 2025, at 09:00 UTC, with an estimated maintenance window of two to three hours. That duration was an estimate, not a guaranteed time the servers would return. TechRadar reported later that day that the season was live. Marvel Rivals’ official Season 4 patch notes contain the schedule; TechRadar’s launch-day live coverage records the rollout.
The season’s title was Heart of the Dragon. The official announcement also said, “Season 4 is upon us, and Angela joins the fray in the Heart of Heaven!” Heart of Heaven appears in that announcement and is also the name used for the later K’un-Lun map in TechRadar’s coverage; it is not the season title.
Who is Angela in Marvel Rivals?
Angela was Season 4’s new Vanguard. In TechRadar’s launch-day description, she was a flying frontline fighter with spear attacks, a shield and close-range dual axes. The outlet also described her attacks as able to displace enemies, while her ultimate creates a zone that pulls opponents in and increases the damage they take from Angela. Those are launch-era descriptions from the outlet, not independently verified ability testing.

TechRadar’s early impression
TechRadar’s writer called the flying Vanguard concept “very interesting indeed,” and said her ability to move enemies out of position was “extremely useful” while describing her shield as “surprisingly decent.” That is one writer’s first impression from launch coverage, not a measured consensus or a claim about how she performs now.
Angela and Thor’s Divine Armory team-up
The official balance post introduced Divine Armory, pairing Angela and Thor. Angela received 100 additional health as the team-up anchor, while Thor gained the Thunderstrike Pike ability. These were launch adjustments announced by NetEase; they should not be read as current values without newer patch information. See the official Season 4 balance post for the full changes.

What shipped with the Season 4 update?
Battle pass and event
The Fruit of Immortality Battle Pass included 10 new costume sets, according to the official announcement. The Scroll of the Immortal Beasts event also offered players a free Ultron – Wasteland Robot costume for completing its objective. These are launch-period contents, not a statement that the pass or event remains available.
Arcade modes
The update listed Free Fight and Conquest (Annihilation) among the Arcade offerings, alongside returning modes. The notes said the listed Arcade modes would be permanently available.

Quality-of-life and custom-game changes
The patch notes listed a range of system updates: costume rotation, changes to the emoji wheel, custom visibility for ultimate effects, friend suggestions, slow walking on PC, squad voice chat, local Gallery Card downloads and team-lobby entrance animations. Tournament Room custom games also gained a disconnect-pause option. The notes describe these as features in the launch update; consult the official patch notes for their exact implementation.
PlayStation 4 availability
The official notes said the PlayStation 4 version download would be available after maintenance on September 12, 2025. That is a historical launch statement, not confirmation of current platform support.

What changed for competitive players?
Season 4 rank reset and rewards
At the start of Season 4, ranks were demoted by seven divisions from each player’s final Season 3.5 rank. NetEase’s example was a player who finished Diamond I beginning Season 4 at Gold II. The notes also listed Angela – Siriana’s Silver costume as a Gold reward, with additional nameplate-frame and Crest of Honor rewards at higher ranks.
Hero balance and team-up changes
The September 4, 2025 balance post covered Captain America, Doctor Strange, Emma Frost, Peni Parker, Thor, Black Panther, Blade, Magik, Moon Knight, Psylocke, Scarlet Witch, Squirrel Girl, Winter Soldier, Invisible Woman, Jeff the Land Shark, Loki, Luna Snow, Mantis and Ultron. Rather than reducing that broad pass to a few cherry-picked numbers, use the full official balance post for each hero’s exact launch changes.
Team-ups changed as well: Magik joined Arcane Order and gained Chain of Cyttorak through Doctor Strange; the Magik–Psylocke Dimensional Shortcut team-up was removed; and Black Panther joined Gamma Charge with Hulk, gaining Gamma Vibranium Armor. These are Season 4 launch changes, not a current roster guide.
What was planned after launch?
TechRadar’s September 2025 coverage described the K’un-Lun map as planned for September 26 and Season 4.5, featuring Daredevil, as planned for October 10. Those were future plans reported at the time, not day-one Season 4 content. The article’s projections should not be treated as confirmation of what is available in the game today.
