When did Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 launch?
Marvel Rivals’ official Season 5.5 patch notes, published December 9, 2025, scheduled the update to begin on December 12 at 09:00 UTC and estimated maintenance at two hours. NetEase confirmed the December 12 launch in its December 11 announcement. TechRadar’s launch-day coverage reported the update live at about 11:00 UTC, after downtime. The scheduled start and reported availability are different milestones.
TechRadar estimated these local times from the expected downtime; they are not separate official launch times.

What changed for Rogue in Season 5.5?
NetEase added Rogue as a Vanguard, describing her as a frontline fighter who charges enemy lines with powerful melee abilities. Her defining mechanic is power absorption after she defeats an enemy hero: she gains a basic buff based on that hero’s role and may steal a signature ability. The announcement names Doctor Strange’s Shield of the Seraphim and Loki’s Regeneration Domain as examples; it does not describe copying as unlimited or automatic.

NetEase also says Rogue can join Gambit and Magneto’s team-up. TechRadar’s launch coverage describes her ultimate as draining ultimate energy from nearby opponents, a secondary-source gameplay detail.
What else was in the Rogue update?
Mission event and story
The patch added Rogue’s lore story, “Forever Alone,” and the Seeds of the Gardener mission event. Its rewards included a free Iron Man – Mark I costume, plus Iron Fist’s Shenloong Champion and Captain America’s Capwolf costumes.

Spectator and emote additions
- Spectators could choose to always show both teams’ banned heroes.
- A new option could disable the first-person spectator interface.
- “Take a Seat” emote additions arrived for Rogue, Storm, Iron Man, Ultron, Mister Fantastic and Spider-Man.
Store cosmetics and rank reward
The launch notes listed Rogue – Savage South Bundle, Rocket Raccoon – Rocket of the Rafters Bundle, Rogue – Savage South Emoji Bundle and Rogue – Searing Heart as store offerings from the update start. Rogue – Queen’s Defense Costume became the new Gold-tier rank reward.
Twitch Drops
The Season 5.5 Twitch Drops window ran from December 12, 2025 at 12:00 UTC through January 9, 2026 at 09:00 UTC, and included Iron Fist – Will of Galacta costume content. That event window has passed; the launch notes do not establish whether any of these cosmetics or rewards have since returned or remain available.

How did Season 5.5 affect balance and ranked play?
TechRadar’s Season 5.5 coverage reported buffs for Thor, Emma Frost, The Thing, Blade, Phoenix, The Punisher, Human Torch, Wolverine, Scarlet Witch, Loki, Luna Snow and Ultron, and nerfs for Peni Parker, Psylocke, Daredevil, Gambit, Invisible Woman and Rocket Raccoon. It also discussed placement matches and rank-specific nameplates. These are descriptions of the December 2025 update, not a guide to the game’s current balance or ranked system. The official patch-note details cited here do not establish the numeric values for those balance changes.
