MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls released on August 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM UTC for PlayStation 5 and PC. Its base roster contains 20 characters across five teams. Phoenix Cyclops is not part of that launch roster: he was announced as Year 1 DLC, scheduled for November 2, 2026, as of October 8, 2026.
Release date, launch time, and platforms
The game went live on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 8:00 PM Pacific, which was 3:00 PM UTC. The corresponding local calendar date in Japan was Friday, August 7. PlayStation also listed August 7 launch dates for Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Korea. PlayStation’s launch announcement and the official FAQ give the platform and timing details.
It is available on PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. A physical PS5 Standard Edition is available; PC editions are digital storefront releases.

The 20-character count and team groupings are supported by the official launch announcement and character announcements for the Unbreakable X-Men, Amazing Guardians, Samurai Outriders, Knights of Doom, and Fighting Avengers.
Why beta lists look different
The Open Beta announcement initially named 15 playable characters, not the complete launch roster. Green Goblin was later added to the beta, bringing its playable selection to 16; that still was not the full 20-character base lineup. Is Phoenix Cyclops in the base game?
No. Phoenix Cyclops was announced as the first Year 1 DLC character, separate from the 20-character base roster. On October 7, 2026, Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka announced a scheduled arrival date of November 2, 2026, along with “Classic” and “Legacy” Cyclops costumes. Because that date was still in the future on October 8, it should be read as the announced schedule, not a confirmation that the character had already been released. Arc System Works’ announcement describes him as an all-rounder with long-range Optic Blasts, close-range strikes, Phoenix Force attacks, and a Solar Shards mechanic that enables a Dark Phoenix transformation after four shards.
What kind of fighting game is it?
PlayStation describes MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls as a 4v4 tag-team fighter developed in collaboration by PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games. Players build a four-character team around character abilities, playstyles, and team synergy. The announcement says players can focus on mastering one character and choose traditional or simplified inputs; these are official feature descriptions rather than independent assessments of accessibility or competitive balance. Offline modes and online requirements
The official FAQ lists Episode Mode, local Versus, Training Mode, All-Star Arena, Battle Guides, Character Guides, and Arcadia Rumble. Online features require an internet connection and an account. On PS5, online play also requires PlayStation Plus; the PC FAQ specifies a PlayStation account for online features. The announced editions are Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Ultimate. Digital Deluxe includes the game, pre-order incentives, and the Year 1 Characters & Stage Pass; Ultimate adds specified cosmetics. The pass includes four additional characters and one additional stage, with the official FAQ saying the remaining content is expected by December 31, 2027. That is a planned availability window, not a statement that all pass content is currently available. Edition contents are detailed in PlayStation’s edition announcement and the official FAQ.
