The official Season 5 patch notes identify Gambit as the launch hero and date the update for November 14, 2025, at 09:00 UTC. The Season 5.5 patch notes name Rogue as that update’s new hero and set its start for December 12, 2025, at 09:00 UTC.
Cyclops came later. The Season 8.5 patch announcement says he officially arrived on June 12, 2026, at 09:00 UTC. Its wording is: “To me, my X-Men! Cyclops officially arrives on the Marvel Rivals battlefield!”
Was Cyclops announced as the next hero during Season 5?
The Season 5 and Season 5.5 announcements identify Gambit and Rogue, respectively; neither names Cyclops as the new hero for those updates. Those releases alone do not establish who would come next. The later Season 8.5 announcement confirms Cyclops’s arrival, so the answer depends on when the question is asked: he was not announced as the Season 5 or Season 5.5 hero in these patch notes, but he is now in the game.

Why “soon” is out of date
Season 5 began in November 2025, and its 5.5 update followed in December. By October 8, 2026, the official Marvel Rivals news index listed Season 10 patch notes from September 11 and Season 10.5 notes scheduled for October 9. Cyclops’s June 2026 debut in Season 8.5 had already taken place, several seasons after the Gambit and Rogue updates.

Season 5 was more than a hero release. Its official patch notes also announced a Times Square non-combat map, new stories and systems, a battle pass, a seasonal event, and Gambit bundles in the in-game store. Rogue’s arrival was part of the separate Season 5.5 update.
