Marvel Rivals’ documented surrender option is tied to a specific situation: during the first round, a teammate must disconnect and remain disconnected for 90 seconds before the team can vote. It is not documented as an anytime option. The August 2025 patch notes set the vote requirement at one fewer than the number of current team members.
When can you vote to surrender in Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals’ August 8, 2025, Version 20250808 patch notes say that the surrender vote can be used in the first round if a player disconnects and does not reconnect within 90 seconds. The notes do not describe surrendering at will, surrendering after any later-round disconnect, or a general vote to end a match that is going badly.
The 90-second window is the wait for the disconnected player to reconnect; it is not a general match timer. Once the stated condition is met, the rest of the team may vote.
How many votes are required?
The August 2025 notes say the required votes are one fewer than the current team members. A separate June 26, 2025, patch note lists thresholds by team size:

The table shows an exception to the simple “one fewer” rule at three or fewer players: the June note requires all remaining players in those cases. These figures are the thresholds stated in that June patch note; the official material reviewed here does not confirm whether a later update changed them.
What happens if someone disconnects earlier?
The August 2025 notes distinguish invalid matches from valid ones. If a player disconnects during loading, ban/pick, hero select, or within the first 70 seconds, the match is invalidated. The disconnected player receives a penalty that scales with repeat offenses; the other players’ match ends without a result or penalty. This early-disconnect rule is separate from the first-round surrender condition.

Did a recent update add surrender voting?
Not according to the official updates cited here. The August 2025 notes document the first-round, 90-second trigger; the June 2025 notes list vote thresholds. A March 12, 2026, console patch later fixed a control-remapping problem that could disrupt the surrender shortcut, describing the button as restored after the fix. That is a correction to console input behavior, not evidence that surrender voting was newly introduced.
The official October 1, 2026, patch notes do not mention adding surrender voting or changing its rules. The cited sources therefore establish the rules above at the times those notes were published, but do not independently verify the current in-game implementation or any changes after those notes.
