In Marvel Rivals, SVP stands for “Second Valuable Player”: the award given after a match to the strongest-performing player on the losing team. It recognizes an individual performance in a loss; it does not mean that player caused the defeat or that their Competitive points are protected.
What does SVP mean in Marvel Rivals?
SVP means “Second Valuable Player.” It is the losing team’s counterpart to MVP, which is associated with the winning side. The award highlights a player who performed strongly even though their team lost. Dot Esports, ONE Esports and Inven Global describe it this way.

How is SVP different from MVP?
| Award | Associated team | What it signals |
|---|---|---|
| MVP | Winning team | Recognition for a strong performance in a win. |
| SVP | Losing team | Recognition for a strong performance despite a loss. |
The names distinguish the match outcomes; neither award, by itself, explains every factor behind a team’s result.

Do not treat the SVP badge as rank protection. Guides disagree: Dot Esports says an SVP in Competitive will not lose ranked points, while ONE Esports and Inven Global say an SVP player can still lose points. The official materials cited below do not establish an SVP-specific exception.

What official scoring information does establish
In a developer note dated April 25, 2025, NetEase said Competitive score depends on both match outcome and individual performance, and that individual performance would receive increased weight from Season 2.0. The note explains: “The better you perform, the more points you will earn in victory, and the fewer points you will lose in defeat.” That is a statement about general Competitive scoring, not a promise that SVP prevents a deduction. Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteOfficial notices describe separate point remedies for specific cases: compensation when a loss and deduction result from a teammate’s confirmed malicious behavior, and a full refund of points lost in a match when reported cheating is verified. These are conditional remedies tied to confirmed misconduct, not benefits stated to follow from earning SVP. See the March 9, 2026 anti-throwing announcement and May 27, 2026 anti-cheat rank-compensation patch notes.
For your own match, use the current in-game point settlement and current official Competitive rules as the authority. Current-season materials, including the Season 7 patch notes from March 18, 2026 and Season 10 patch notes from September 9, 2026, provide competitive-system context but do not establish SVP-specific point protection.
