What happened to Marvel Snap during the TikTok ban?
MARVEL SNAP was caught up in the January 2025 U.S. action related to TikTok and went offline for a period. The game’s interruption was part of the surrounding disruption; that does not mean the game and TikTok had identical legal or operational status. Game Developer reported on January 21, 2025 that the game was back online in the United States and identified Nuverse, a ByteDance subsidiary, as its publisher at the time. Second Dinner’s official return notice called the event a service disruption. Is Marvel Snap back online?
Yes. Second Dinner announced the U.S. return in January 2025, and Game Developer reported the game was back online on January 21. The available accounts do not establish an authoritative outage duration, affected-player count, or revenue loss, so those figures should not be inferred from the rewards announcement.

Why was Marvel Snap affected?
The interruption coincided with the TikTok-related U.S. action because MARVEL SNAP’s publisher at the time was Nuverse, which contemporaneous coverage described as a ByteDance subsidiary. Second Dinner’s response pointed to the vulnerability of relying on external publishing services: its official notice said, “Additionally, to make sure this never happens again, we’re working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher.” Second Dinner’s notice
Who publishes Marvel Snap now?
The answer changed between the initial response and the later account. Nuverse was publisher at the time of the January 2025 interruption. Second Dinner initially said it was seeking a new publisher while bringing more services in-house. Le Monde reported on January 29, 2025 that Second Dinner would distribute the game itself alongside California-based publisher Skystone; that is a contemporaneous report and should not be treated as a complete account of the legal arrangement for every publishing function. What changed for the game after the disruption?
Second Dinner’s 2026 retrospective also described continued content development: the studio said it added around 100 new cards in 2025 and described six rotating limited-time game modes. Those figures are the studio’s account of the game’s 2025 content and mode cadence, not measurements of the outage or proof that publishing changes alone caused the content output.
