Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYes, the N7 Day 2025 post contained a reported hidden URL clue: italicized letters assembled into “URL Krogan N7” and led to an old Mass Effect 3 multiplayer event post. But that redirect does not confirm multiplayer for the next game—or any new feature. BioWare said the next Mass Effect was in development, while explicitly warning that its message contained no secret game information. Whether the clue was a tease or a joke remains unclear.
What BioWare actually announced on N7 Day 2025
In a November 7, 2025 post by Mike Gamble, Executive Producer, Mass Effect, BioWare said the next game remained in development and that EA and BioWare were committed to telling more stories in the universe. Gamble said the team was focused on Mass Effect and asked fans to wait until it was ready to show more. The post did not give a release date.
“The next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe.”
The post also directly addressed speculation about hidden information: “there is no secret game information to be gleaned by anything I’m saying today, I promise.” That disclaimer matters when weighing what the typography might mean.

How the hidden message was decoded
A contemporaneous PC Gamer report noted that intermittent italicized characters in the post, excluding italics in the game title, could be assembled as “URL Krogan N7.” Appending the resulting fragment to the post’s URL redirected to a 2012 BioWare post about a Mass Effect 3 multiplayer “Challenge Weekend.”
That is a reported Easter egg with a specific old destination. The destination was an event post for an earlier game, not an announcement about the next one.

Does the redirect mean multiplayer is coming back?
No. Some fans speculated that the old multiplayer link could hint at multiplayer in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, but the linked destination itself only concerned a 2012 Mass Effect 3 event. Neither the N7 Day post nor the reported redirect confirms multiplayer for the next game, a new Legendary Edition feature, or any other upcoming feature.
The evidence supports three distinct points:
- Official statement: the next game was in development; no release date or multiplayer details were announced.
- Reported URL result: the assembled text led to an old Mass Effect 3 multiplayer Challenge Weekend post.
- Fan inference: the link might point toward future multiplayer. That remains speculation.
Was BioWare trolling fans?
It is reasonable to call the clue a joke, tease, or troll: its formatting invited people to decode a URL, while Gamble’s post promised that there was no secret game information to find. But the post does not establish BioWare’s intent. The most careful conclusion is that the hidden URL was real as reported, its intended meaning is unresolved, and it is not evidence of a new game feature.

The separate Mass Effect TV-series update
The same post said BioWare was partnering with Amazon on a Mass Effect television series. The writers’ room was active, and BioWare described the show as part of canon, set after the original trilogy, with a new story rather than a retelling of Commander Shepard’s story. The post gave no premiere date. This was a separate update, not an explanation of the URL clue.

For a catch-up on the trilogy, EA describes Mass Effect Legendary Edition as a collection of the original Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, with over 40 DLC packs. It is an optional way to revisit the series; it is not needed to decode the N7 Day URL.
