What Mayview with Cobblemon is
Mayview is a CurseForge modpack by jflec built around Cobblemon, the Minecraft Pokémon experience. The project presents a cozy adventure inspired by everyday life with Pokémon rather than a narrowly focused battle-only pack. Its design combines collecting and battling with a broader life-simulation and building loop.
The advertised features include enhanced world generation, a Daily Shop, a Selling Bin, player shops, planes, trains and automobiles, extensive decoration mods, farming, cooking and Create-powered automation. That combination makes the pack suitable for players who want a long-running shared world: one person can concentrate on exploring and catching Pokémon while another builds a home, runs a shop, farms or designs an automated production line.

A modded Minecraft connection is a coordinated set of files, not just a copy of the Cobblemon mod. The client and server must agree on Minecraft 1.21.1, the NeoForge loader and the Mayview release, including the versions of the other bundled mods. Loading only Cobblemon into a vanilla server, or combining files from two Mayview releases, can produce missing-mod errors, registry mismatches, crashes or a world that behaves differently for different players.
For a group world, choose one release as the group standard before anyone starts playing. Write the release number in your setup notes and ask every player to install that same number. When updating, stop the server, make a world backup, read the new release notes and update all clients together.
Installing Mayview on a client
1. Confirm the prerequisites
- Use a Minecraft launcher that can install the Mayview distribution from its CurseForge project.
- Plan on Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge, not another Minecraft version or loader.
- Make enough disk space for the launcher, the mod files, configuration data and your saved worlds.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft Java Edition when the launcher requires authentication.
Mayview’s authoritative distribution listing is its CurseForge project page. Cobblemon’s own documentation also describes the Modrinth App and Prism Launcher as launchers used for Cobblemon packs; that general guidance does not change Mayview’s listed source or its required version. If you use a launcher other than the one you normally use, verify that it is importing the Mayview pack itself rather than creating a fresh, incomplete profile.

2. Select the current Mayview file
- Open the Mayview project in the CurseForge listing or in a launcher that exposes that project.
- Select release 1.1.2c, with Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge shown as the compatibility pair.
- Install or import the complete profile. Allow the launcher to download every dependency it lists.
- Do not replace individual mods with files from another Mayview version or another Cobblemon pack.
If the launcher offers several files, inspect the Minecraft and loader labels before clicking install. The server-files archive is for a dedicated server and is not a substitute for the client profile.
3. Launch once before changing anything
- Start the newly installed profile from the launcher.
- Wait for the first launch to finish creating configuration and resource directories; modded first launches can take longer than a vanilla start.
- At the title screen, confirm that the expected NeoForge profile and Mayview content loaded.
- Create a temporary single-player world and enter it long enough to confirm that terrain, Cobblemon content and the pack’s menus appear.
Keep the temporary world separate from a future multiplayer save. Its purpose is to catch a broken installation before you spend time building a shared world.
4. Resolve a failed client launch
- Wrong Minecraft version: return to the profile settings and select 1.21.1 exactly.
- Wrong loader: remove the profile and reinstall the Mayview release so NeoForge is installed with it.
- Partial download: close the launcher, use its repair or reinstall option, and let it redownload the complete profile rather than copying random jar files.
- Mixed pack files: create a clean profile and install only the selected Mayview release.
Keep the launcher log when asking for help. The first useful clue is usually the earliest missing dependency or version mismatch, not the final generic crash message.
Server requirements before installation
Java 21 and a 64-bit JVM
NeoForge’s Minecraft 1.21.1 documentation identifies Java 21 and a 64-bit JVM as prerequisites. Install a Java 21 JDK on the machine that will run the server and make sure the server process is using that installation, not an older Java runtime left on the system path. A Java version check should report version 21; your operating system or Java installation tools can confirm whether the JVM is 64-bit.
A JDK is preferable to relying on an unknown runtime bundled by another application. If a startup script reports an unsupported class-file version, an invalid Java option or a missing executable, correct the Java installation or the script’s Java path before troubleshooting mods.

Memory planning
The Mayview project recommends 6–8 GB of dedicated RAM for performance. This is the author’s general guidance, not a measured player-capacity guarantee. Actual needs vary with view distance, simulation distance, world activity, automation, exploration and the number of simultaneous players.
“Dedicated” means memory reserved for the server process, not the total physical memory in the computer. Leave room for the operating system and background services. A machine with exactly 8 GB of physical RAM should not automatically assign all 8 GB to Java. Monitor memory pressure and server responsiveness after your group has explored and built in the same area.
Network and storage planning
- Use a stable connection if friends will join from outside your home network.
- Reserve storage for the world, logs, backups and future release files.
- Keep the server in its own clean directory so you can identify which files belong to Mayview.
- Plan a backup location on a different disk or machine when the world matters.
Installing a dedicated Mayview server
The simplest supported route is the matching server-files package listed for Mayview 1.1.2c. It keeps the intended loader, mods and scripts together. Do not build a vanilla server and copy only Cobblemon into it.
- Create a clean server directory. Use a new folder with a clear name such as a Mayview 1.1.2c server folder. Avoid placing it inside an unrelated vanilla or modded installation.
- Download the matching server files. From the Mayview files page, choose the 1.21 server-files package associated with release 1.1.2c. Keep the downloaded archive intact until you have verified that it is the intended file.
- Extract the complete archive. Preserve the directory structure, loader files, mods, configurations and startup scripts. Copying only selected jars defeats the purpose of the server package.
- Install and select Java 21. Confirm that the startup process uses a 64-bit Java 21 JDK.
- Use the supplied startup method. On Linux, macOS or another Unix-like system, run
run.sh. On Windows, runrun.bat. If you install NeoForge manually instead of using the packaged files, NeoForge’s documented installer option is--installServer. - Allow the first start to create files. The initial run normally stops after creating the server files and the EULA file. This is expected.
- Read the EULA and set the flag. Open
eula.txt, read and accept the Minecraft EULA, and change the setting toeula=trueonly if you agree to it. - Start the server again. Run the same script a second time and watch the console for a message indicating that the server has finished starting and is ready for connections.
Do not close the console by killing the process while the world is saving. Use the server’s normal stop command when shutting down so world data and player changes are written cleanly.
Letting friends join
Players on the same local network
Players in the same home or office network can usually connect using the server computer’s local address. The host should identify that address from the operating system’s network settings and provide it to the other players. Everyone still needs the identical Mayview release, Minecraft version and NeoForge loader.

Players connecting over the internet
- Give the server computer a stable local address so a router rule does not point to a different device later.
- Allow the Minecraft server through the computer’s firewall.
- Forward the default Minecraft port, 25565, from the router to the server computer, unless you deliberately configure another port.
- If you choose a different port, set it in
server.propertiesand tell players the exact port along with the address. - Share the public address only with people who should access the world.
Port forwarding exposes a service to the internet. Use a strong operating-system account, keep Java and the server files maintained, and avoid forwarding unrelated services. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound connections, ordinary port forwarding may not work; a managed host or another network solution may then be more practical.
What each joining player needs
- The same Mayview release as the server, currently 1.1.2c in the listed release.
- Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge.
- The complete client profile, not just a Cobblemon jar.
- The server address and, when changed, the custom port.
When a player receives a mod-list or registry error, first compare the exact release and loader labels on both sides. Reinstalling the complete client profile is safer than trying to replace one file manually.

Cobblemon’s official documentation states: “Cobblemon does NOT have an official server.” That means there is no single official Cobblemon realm that hosts Mayview for you. You can run the server on your own hardware or purchase an independent managed Minecraft server.
Self-hosting fits when you want control
- You already have a computer with sufficient memory and reliable uptime.
- You are comfortable installing Java, running NeoForge scripts and editing configuration files.
- You want direct control over the world directory, backups, mods and server settings.
- You can handle firewall and router configuration for remote players.
Self-hosting avoids a recurring hosting bill, but the administrative work remains yours. You are responsible for operating-system updates, Java maintenance, backups, troubleshooting, network exposure and keeping the machine available when friends want to play.
Managed hosting fits when convenience matters
A managed Minecraft provider can reduce routine administration for a persistent world, but support varies. Before paying, verify all of the following:
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Explicit support for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge.
- Permission to upload custom Mayview server files rather than selecting only a limited catalog.
- Enough dedicated memory for the project’s 6–8 GB guidance and your expected player activity.
- Automated or easy-to-download backups.
- Access to logs, configuration files and server controls.
- A clear policy for changing ports, restoring worlds and updating modpacks.
Compare providers on upfront and recurring cost, file and configuration control, update effort, uptime, expected player capacity, network exposure and custom-file support. Do not assume that a host supporting generic Cobblemon automatically supports Mayview’s particular server archive.
Backups and updates
Before the first public session
- Stop the server and make a complete copy of the world directory.
- Store at least one backup outside the live server directory.
- Record the Mayview release, Minecraft version, NeoForge version and Java version.
- Test that a backup can be located and opened before you rely on it.
Before changing Mayview releases
- Tell players when the world will be offline.
- Stop the server normally.
- Copy the world and important configuration files to a dated backup location.
- Read the new Mayview release notes and check for migration instructions.
- Replace the server files with the complete matching package rather than mixing old and new mod jars.
- Update every client to the same release.
- Start the server and inspect the console for errors before inviting players back.
Never test an uncertain update on the only copy of a valuable world. A world backup is your recovery path if a dependency changes, a save fails or a mod removes content.
Troubleshooting checklist
The server closes immediately
- Check that Java 21 is installed and that the process is using it.
- Confirm the JVM is 64-bit.
- Read the first error in the console rather than the final shutdown line.
- Make sure the archive was extracted completely and that the startup script is being run from the server directory.
- If the EULA file is present but still set to false, read it and change the value only after accepting the agreement.
Players cannot connect
- Confirm the server is fully started and listening.
- On a local network, use the server computer’s local address.
- For remote access, check the operating-system firewall and router forwarding for port 25565, or the custom port in
server.properties. - Check whether the internet provider prevents inbound connections.
- Compare the player’s Mayview, Minecraft and NeoForge versions with the server.
A player gets a missing-mod or registry error
Reinstall the complete Mayview client profile at the server’s exact release. Do not add isolated files from another pack. If the error persists, compare the server archive contents with the release’s intended server-files package and review the console for the named dependency.
The world becomes slow after expansion
Measure performance after the group has explored new terrain, added farms and started Create automation. The author’s 6–8 GB recommendation is a starting point, not a guarantee for every world. Reduce simultaneous heavy activity, review view and simulation settings, and check whether the machine is paging because too little memory remains for the operating system.
What to expect from a Mayview playthrough
Mayview’s appeal is the way its systems reinforce one another. Cobblemon gives the group exploration, collecting and battles. Farming and cooking provide daily activities and supplies. Decoration and enhanced world generation support towns, homesteads and themed builds. The Daily Shop, Selling Bin and player shops create reasons to produce and trade. Vehicles expand travel options, while Create automation lets technically minded players turn resources and crafting into larger production systems.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
That breadth also affects server planning. A world may accumulate more active builds, storage, farms, transport systems and explored terrain than a short vanilla test world. Establish a backup routine before the group becomes attached to a settlement, and agree on who can change server files or install updates.
