mctsinterface.dll is a game-specific DLL, not a Windows system file. If mctsinterface.dll is missing, not found, corrupt, or cannot be loaded, repair the game that owns it rather than downloading a replacement or copying one into System32.
Identify mctsinterface.dll before changing Windows
The error path usually identifies the affected game. Look for a folder such as SMITE, Paladins, Tribes: Ascend, or another game directory before trying any repair.

Public installation records place this file in several Unreal Engine-era games, including SMITE, Paladins, Tribes: Ascend, and Hand of the Gods. That does not mean every error belongs to SMITE, and there is no reliable universal version, file size, checksum, or standalone package for this DLL.

Before repairing anything, record:
- The full path shown in the error
- The game that is failing
- Whether the game is installed through Steam, Epic Games Store, or another launcher
- Whether the path contains
Win32orWin64 - Whether the issue began after an update, reinstall, cleanup, or antivirus warning
- The exact wording: missing, not found, could not be loaded, entry point not found, or not designed to run on Windows
Fix 1: Verify the game files
This is the most likely solution for an incomplete update, damaged installation, or accidentally removed DLL. Verification restores the copy matching the installed game and its architecture.

Steam
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected game.
- Choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Click Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the process to finish.
- Restart Steam and launch the game again.
Steam may report that some files failed to validate because local configuration files are different from the original installation. That can be normal. Pay attention to whether the game redownloads MctsInterface.dll or other files in the same BinariesWin32 or BinariesWin64 directory.
If verification repeatedly downloads the file, closes without repairing the error, or reports a continuing disk problem, continue with the clean reinstall steps below.
Epic Games Store
- Open the Epic Games Launcher.
- Open Library.
- Find the affected game.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Manage.
- Click Verify.
- Wait for verification to finish, then start the game.
If the launcher offers both a 32-bit and 64-bit executable, repair the installation containing the executable named in the error. Do not copy the Win32 DLL into the Win64 folder or reverse the process.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsOlder or standalone game launchers
Open the game’s official launcher and look for Repair, Verify, Scan, or Check files. If no repair option exists, uninstall and reinstall the game using its official installer. Avoid replacing only one DLL, because the file may depend on matching executables, libraries, configuration files, and game data.
Verification worked if the game starts normally and the original error does not return. If the same message appears immediately after verification, check antivirus history before reinstalling.
Fix 2: Check whether antivirus removed the file
Windows Security or another antivirus program may quarantine a game DLL after an update or after the file changes. A quarantine event does not automatically prove that the file was malicious, but restoring files blindly is unsafe.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Click Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Open any detection associated with the affected game folder.
- Confirm the path is the official game installation.
- Scan the game folder before restoring anything.
- If the file is confirmed as an original game file, use the available Restore or Allow on device action only when you understand the risk.
- Run the game platform’s file verification immediately afterward.
Microsoft’s guidance for Protection history is available through its Windows Security Protection History documentation.

If the file is restored and immediately quarantined again, leave it quarantined, update the antivirus definitions, and reinstall the game from its official platform.
Fix 3: Remove a manually downloaded replacement
If you downloaded mctsinterface.dll separately, remove that replacement and validate the game again. A DLL with the right filename can still be wrong because it may belong to another game, another release, or another processor architecture.
A mismatched file commonly produces errors such as:
- The procedure entry point could not be located
- The file could not be loaded
- The application was unable to start correctly
- The file is not designed to run on Windows
- The game crashes while loading
The correct repair is to let Steam, Epic, or the game’s official launcher restore the complete installation. Do not try several DLL versions until one happens to load.
Fix 4: Determine whether a dependency is actually missing
Windows can report that a module could not be found when the named DLL exists but one of its dependencies does not. For example, mctsinterface.dll may load another runtime or game library that is absent.
Check the game folder for other missing or quarantined files, and review the complete error text. If a diagnostic tool identifies a Microsoft C++ runtime as the missing dependency, install the official package from Microsoft’s Latest Supported Visual C++ Redistributable page.
The package names are:
vc_redist.x64.exefor 64-bit applicationsvc_redist.x86.exefor 32-bit applications
A 64-bit version of Windows can need both packages because a 32-bit game uses the x86 runtime. Install a runtime only when the error or dependency analysis points to it. Do not assume that mctsinterface.dll itself is a Visual C++ Redistributable file.
After installation, restart Windows and launch the game. If the error is unchanged, return to game-file verification rather than installing unrelated runtimes.

SFC and DISM repair protected Windows components. They do not normally recreate a private game DLL, so use them when Windows features are also failing, system files are corrupt, or several unrelated applications show component errors.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Choose Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to complete.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Verify the game files again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its System File Checker guidance.
Success means DISM and SFC complete without an unresolved corruption message, and other Windows functions behave normally. If the game still reports mctsinterface.dll, repair the game installation. SFC and DISM are not substitutes for reinstalling it.
Manually hunting through Windows components and repeating SFC or DISM without knowing what changed can be time-consuming. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for reported system issues, while its repair functions require the full version; it is optional, and reinstalling the affected game remains the definitive fix for a game-owned DLL.

Fix 6: Update drivers only for a confirmed crash
A missing-DLL message is not normally fixed by a graphics driver, but a game may crash after loading its DLL because of a driver, CPU-specific compatibility issue, firmware problem, or another runtime component.

Update drivers only if:
- The file exists and passes validation
- The error is actually an application crash rather than a missing-file message
- The crash began after a Windows, game, or hardware change
- Crash reports identify the graphics driver or another device module
Update through Device Manager
- Right-click Start.
- Choose Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device.
- Choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows.
For chipset, audio, network, or other devices, expand the relevant category and repeat the process. Prefer the hardware manufacturer’s official driver package when Device Manager reports that no newer driver is available.
Finding the correct driver manually can mean comparing hardware models, operating-system builds, and 32-bit or 64-bit packages. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for reported driver problems, while driver installation through the full version is optional; it does not replace validating or reinstalling the game that owns mctsinterface.dll.
Do not update BIOS or motherboard firmware solely because this filename appears in an error. Consider firmware or hardware troubleshooting only when the validated game crashes consistently on a specific system and the vendor identifies that path.
Fix 7: Check Windows Features only when the game requires one
Some older games require a legacy Windows component, but enabling random features will not restore mctsinterface.dll.
If the game’s official support instructions specifically require a Windows feature:
- Open Start.
- Search for Turn Windows features on or off.
- Open the result.
- Enable only the named feature.
- Select OK.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Verify the game files again.
Do not enable legacy components merely because a DLL is missing. A game prerequisite identified by its launcher or error message is different from the DLL itself.
Fix 8: Cleanly reinstall the affected game
Use this when verification cannot restore the file, the launcher repeatedly fails, or the installation contains a manually replaced DLL.

- Start the game once before adding mods or custom files.
- If antivirus quarantines the file, stop and inspect Protection history.
- Test the game again.
If only one Windows profile fails, test the game from a new local Windows user account. A profile-specific permission, launcher cache, or configuration problem can prevent a valid DLL from loading.
If a clean reinstall still fails, contact the game publisher’s support team with the full error path, game version, Windows version, Win32 or Win64 path, crash-module name, and antivirus Protection history result.
What not to do
Do not copy the DLL to System32 or SysWOW64
mctsinterface.dll belongs beside the game executable. Windows normally searches the application directory as part of its DLL search process. Copying it into C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or another global folder can create version conflicts and unsafe DLL-loading behavior.
Microsoft documents both the DLL search order and DLL search security.
Do not use random DLL download sites
Standalone DLL repositories can provide malware, the wrong architecture, a mismatched version, or a file that does not include the missing dependency. Even a clean file may not match the game’s executable. Use the official game launcher, Steam, Epic Games Store, or the game developer’s installer instead.
Do not register this DLL with regsvr32
regsvr32 is for DLLs designed to register COM components. There is no evidence that mctsinterface.dll is a self-registering COM DLL. Running:
regsvr32 mctsinterface.dll
will usually produce a DllRegisterServer error or distract from the actual installation problem. It does not repair a missing game file.
FAQ
Is mctsinterface.dll a Windows file?
No. It is a private game DLL found in game-specific binary folders. It should not normally be present in System32 or SysWOW64.
Does every mctsinterface.dll error belong to SMITE?
No. Public installation records also associate the file with other games, including Paladins, Tribes: Ascend, and Hand of the Gods. Identify the owning game from the error path.
Why does only the 64-bit version fail?
The Win64 executable loads files from its 64-bit binary directory and may require different dependencies from the Win32 build. Verify the affected installation and do not substitute a 32-bit DLL.
What if the file exists but Windows says it is missing?
A dependency may be missing, or the file may be incompatible or corrupt. Check the complete error, inspect antivirus history, validate the game, and install a Microsoft runtime only if dependency analysis identifies it.
Should I run System Restore?
Use System Restore only as a last resort for a broader system-wide change. It can revert applications, settings, and later updates. A verified game repair or clean reinstall is the preferred solution for this DLL.
When is the repair complete?
The repair is complete when the game launches normally from its official launcher and the error no longer appears. If it still fails after validation and a clean reinstall, preserve the diagnostic details and escalate to the game’s official support channel.
