It is worth considering if you want a mature, choice-driven story with multiple endings and a strong visual identity; it is a less suitable pick if you want action-heavy gameplay or are sensitive to its disturbing themes.
What is Mediterranea Inferno?
Created by Lorenzo Redaelli under the name Eyeguys and published by Santa Ragione, Mediterranea Inferno follows three childhood friends reconnecting during a summer retreat in Southern Italy. Its focus is the emotional friction among the trio: friendship, desire, grief and the difficult feelings left in the wake of the pandemic.

How does the story and choice system work?
You choose activities for the three protagonists across their days together. Those choices affect how the story unfolds and can lead to multiple endings, so the structure is more than a single fixed sequence of scenes. The central appeal is seeing how the friends’ relationships shift under the pressure of the choices and events.
#1 Best Overall
- In the Divine Comedy, the poet Dante Alighieri enters Hell in search of his beloved Beatrice. Guided by Virgil, he descends through the nine circles, witnessing how each sinner is eternally punished in a manner as horrifying as the sin they committed in life.
- Inferno is a worker placement/ soul management game where each player must guide sinners to their respective circles in Hell. The central board consists of two parts: one displaying all 9 circles and the soul registry, while the other represents Florence in the early 14th century, where Dante lived, with its power games and palace intrigues.
Replay value comes from exploring different decisions and outcomes rather than mastering a combat system or optimizing a build. The game’s tone has been described in storefront critic snippets as provocative, unsettling, playful and poetic; those short blurbs are outlet-attributed, not verified quotes from named reviewers.
How long is Mediterranea Inferno?
Steam estimates 3–4 hours to reach one ending, and says that one ending reveals roughly 60% of the game’s content. Treat that as a storefront estimate rather than an independently measured playtime. Seeing substantially more of the story means returning to make different choices and pursue other outcomes.
What do reviews say?
At the time the Steam listing was accessed in 2026, it showed a “Very Positive” user-review rating, with 96% of 249 reviews positive. That is a changing storefront snapshot, not a permanent score. The listing also displayed an 84 critic score, but the captured page does not identify which platform that score represents, so it should not be read as a confirmed score for a particular console or PC version.

The critical reception context is available through Metacritic’s critic-review page, which filters reviews by platform. Neither the aggregate figures nor brief blurbs answer whether its style will work for every player: the game’s short, highly authored narrative is its main draw, and its subject matter is an important consideration.

The developer’s notice on Steam names implied physical violence, psychological abuse, unwanted sexual touching, limited gore, and references to substance abuse and psychological trauma. These themes are part of a mature story; consider the notice before playing if any of them may be difficult for you.
Which platforms is it on?
Official listings cover Windows and macOS on Steam, PS4 and PS5 on PlayStation Store, and a downloadable Nintendo Switch release. Nintendo dates its listed download release to 5 March 2024. These listings establish availability, not differences in performance or presentation between platforms.
- Steam: Windows and macOS listing.
- PlayStation Store: PS4 and PS5 listing.
- Nintendo eShop: downloadable Switch listing.
Who is it for?
Choose Mediterranea Inferno if you value expressive illustration, authored music and a relationship-focused story that lets your decisions shape its route and ending. Its estimated first ending is brief, but that run represents only about 60% of the content according to Steam.
