A genuinely exhaustive, current list of item requirements cannot be verified from the available sources: published community counts conflict, so the examples below are not a complete checklist.
How item unlocks work
The community item wiki describes a two-part process: first complete the objective tied to an item; then buy that unlocked item with Silver in the main-menu Unlocks tab. Completing the objective makes the item purchasable—it does not, by itself, add the item to later runs. After purchase, the item enters the possible item pool.

Quests are part of Megabonk’s wider progression system: the Steam store listing says they unlock characters, weapons, and items. The same listing advertises 240 in-game quests, 20 characters, and 70+ unique items; those are store-page figures, not a verified item-by-item count. Steam store listing.
Four reported item requirements
These examples come from unofficial guides and are not a complete item list. Check the current in-game Unlocks screen for your build, especially where a condition depends on random spawns.

| Item | Reported requirement | Scope and caveats |
|---|---|---|
| Kevin | Collect three Leeching Crystals in one run. | The fan index says the crystals come from the random item pool. It suggests Forest Tier 1, Luck, and banishing unrelated items as tactics, not requirements. Fan item index. |
| Hero Sword | Defeat a Stage Boss without collecting ground items or temporary powerups, and without using any Shrine. | The fan index says ordinary XP and level-up choices are allowed. Fan item index. |
| Chaos Tome | In a Tier 3 run, fully charge every Charge Shrine across all three stages. | According to the fan index, do not leave a Shrine’s aura or get knocked out of it while charging. Fan item index. |
| Boombox | Activate all three Boomboxes on the Forest map in one run. | PC Gamer reports that locations are randomized and progress does not carry between runs. After completing the objective, its guide says to purchase the item for 5 Silver. This walkthrough dates to October 2025; confirm its details in the current build. PC Gamer’s Boombox guide. |
Why there is no reliable “every item” checklist here
Accessible community references disagree about the item total: the Megabonk Wiki reports 77, Fandom reports 78, and two current fan database pages report 85. The Steam listing’s “70+” description is broader and does not resolve that disagreement. Without a complete table checked against the current game build, presenting any partial selection as every item—or treating one community count as definitive—would be misleading.
For a full checklist, use the current in-game Unlocks screen as your reference for what remains available in your build. For an item-specific requirement, compare the in-game objective with a current guide; treat older walkthrough details and strategy tips as provisional, particularly when the objective involves a randomized map or item pool.

Plan around the kind of requirement
The reported examples illustrate why reading the full condition matters: Kevin and Chaos Tome are tied to a single run, Boombox depends on finding multiple map spawns in that run, and Hero Sword imposes restrictions on pickups and Shrine use. Before starting, identify the run scope, any map or tier requirement, random-spawn dependency, and forbidden actions. Keep strategy suggestions separate from the actual objective.
