Those reports raised questions about the game’s direction, but they do not establish how many players obtained copies or what fans broadly thought. The game has since launched on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
What was reported before launch
On November 30, 2025, Notebookcheck reported that some stores had broken Nintendo’s street date and that impressions were appearing online. Its account described one player’s thoughts about the freedom available after acquiring the Vi-O-La vehicle, a prominent non-player character, and whether the game felt linear. These are impressions attributed to a player in a secondary report, not independently verified conclusions about the full game. Notebookcheck’s report

A day earlier, TechTimes reported that a Reddit user had posted a photo described as an early copy, and connected that post to fan concerns about how the game might differ from previous Metroid entries. That is secondary reporting of social-media material; it does not prove the image’s authenticity, the number of early copies, or a consensus among fans. TechTimes’ report

What the leak reports do—and do not—establish
The reports support the careful conclusion that some players were said to have obtained copies early and shared impressions before launch. They do not establish the scale of any street-date breach, how many people played early, whether every circulated image or claim was authentic, or that the reported concerns represented fans generally. No official Nintendo statement addressing this particular incident was located in the cited coverage.

When did Metroid Prime 4: Beyond release?
Nintendo announced that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would launch on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2025. Nintendo’s UK product page lists the Switch 2 Edition with the same date, written as 04/12/2025 in UK date format. The pre-release leak coverage therefore predates the official launch; the game is no longer an unreleased title. Nintendo’s launch announcement
