Metroid Prime 4: Beyond climbed to No. 9 in the latest reported UK physical-games chart, up from No. 20 the week before. That puts it in the overall UK top 10—not at the top of a Switch 2-only chart. GfK’s reported split for the game was 57% of chart sales on Switch 2 and 43% on Switch. The chart report linked its return to discounts, but does not establish how much Nintendo marketed the game.
What the latest UK chart says
Nintendo Life’s October 2026 report, citing GfK, placed Metroid Prime 4: Beyond at No. 9 in the UK physical-games top 40, up from No. 20 the previous week. The chart covers physical games across platforms; it is not a Switch 2-only ranking. The report did not provide unit totals, precise chart-week dates, or GfK’s methodology.

For the game’s chart sales that week, the reported platform split was 57% on Switch 2 and 43% on Switch. That is a division of its sales between the two versions, not its rank within a separate Switch 2 chart. Nintendo Life’s UK chart report says the game had been absent for a while, returned the previous week, and was performing well after discounts. It offers no sales totals or analysis proving discounts caused the ranking change.

The launch chart and the later chart return describe different points in time, so their rankings and platform splits should not be treated as a like-for-like sales comparison.

| Chart report | UK physical rank | Reported Switch 2 / Switch split | What it measures |
|---|---|---|---|
| December 2025 launch | No. 3 | 83% / 17% | Launch-week chart sales |
| October 2026 report | No. 9, up from No. 20 the prior week | 57% / 43% | Sales in the reported chart week |
Nintendo Life’s December 2025 launch-chart report, also citing GfK, recorded the game at No. 3, with 83% of its chart sales on Switch 2 and 17% on Switch. Christopher Dring reported that UK physical launch sales were 15% below Metroid Dread, describing the gap as a few thousand units. That comparison is limited to physical launch sales; it says nothing about digital sales or lifetime totals.
What the sales milestones do—and don’t—tell us
Separate from the UK physical charts, GameSpot reported that a Nintendo representative confirmed combined sales of the Switch and Switch 2 versions had passed one million copies. The report did not establish whether the threshold was reached by December 31, 2025, or whether January sales were included. It is a combined-version figure, not a UK physical-sales total. GameSpot’s report attributes the confirmation to a Nintendo representative through Stephen Totilo’s reporting.
Rank #2
- 1. Explore the mysterious planet Viewros as the renowned bounty hunter Samus Aran
- 2. Scan your surroundings for clues and make the most of your equipment and weapons to survive
- 3. Use Samus’s newfound psychic abilities—and her technologically advanced bike, the Vi-O-La—to traverse and explore the environment.
- 4. Aim with a Joy-Con 2 controller as a mouse
- 5. Experience enhanced resolution, framerate, and load times in the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the game
Nintendo’s investor-relations software sales page reports worldwide consolidated lifetime unit sales for listed titles. It also explains that packaged Switch 2 Edition sales are counted as Switch 2 software, while downloadable versions are included in Switch software. Those accounting categories differ from a UK weekly physical chart, so they should not be used to infer the chart’s unit totals or platform split.
Does the chart show Nintendo barely marketed the game?
No. The chart movement and a report of discounts do not establish how much marketing Nintendo did, and the cited reporting supplies no campaign budget, reach figure, or comparable marketing measure. Nor does the chart show that the game is topping Switch 2 charts: it reached No. 9 in an overall UK physical top 40. The supported takeaway is narrower: the game returned to the UK physical top 10 as its reported chart sales leaned toward Switch 2, while also accounting for a substantial Switch share.
