Yes. Black Ops 7’s Season 06 announcement includes a DOOM crossover with a Doom Slayer operator and a Doom Guy operator skin. Whether those skins are “goofy” is a matter of taste, but their presence sits uneasily beside Activision’s earlier promise that new bundles and items would fit the Black Ops identity.
What Activision said about Black Ops 7 cosmetics
In an August 26, 2025 community update, Activision said that Operators, Operator Skins, and Weapons from Black Ops 6 would not carry forward into Black Ops 7. The same update said new “bundles and items will be crafted to fit the Black Ops identity,” with a stated goal of better balancing an immersive experience with the series’ core identity. That was not a promise to exclude every crossover or stylized cosmetic. The carry-forward rule addressed Black Ops 6 content moving into Black Ops 7; the identity language described the intended fit of future items. It did not set out a ban on outside characters or establish “goofy” as an official category.
What the DOOM announcement confirms
On September 8, 2026, Call of Duty Staff announced that Season 06 would launch September 17 and feature a limited-time DOOM Event Pass. The announcement lists the Doom Slayer as a new operator and Doom Guy as an operator skin. It also names DOOM-inspired items including the Crucible Blade and DOOM Shotgun. The event pass is described as limited-time, but the announcement does not establish its exact end date or whether every reward remains obtainable on October 8, 2026. Check the in-game event page for current availability rather than assuming the rewards can still be unlocked.
Does this contradict the earlier promise?
It creates a reasonable tension, but not a direct contradiction of the specific carry-forward policy. The DOOM cosmetics are new Black Ops 7 content, not Black Ops 6 items being transferred. The harder question is whether a recognizable DOOM crossover fits the immersive, Black Ops-focused identity Activision said it wanted for new items.

That is a judgment about tone, not a factual label supplied by Activision. Players who want a grounded military look may see a Doom Slayer or Doom Guy skin as a conspicuous departure; players who welcome crossovers may see it as a normal event collaboration. The official announcement establishes the content, not how every player should assess it.

Activision has revised some cosmetics after feedback
In a separate Vault Edition update, Activision said it would visually adjust three of the four operators in the Operator Collection and provide a bonus T.E.D.D. skin after receiving community feedback. The update said the adjusted T.E.D.D. would feature his “classic melted face” and that players would also receive the original reveal skin with slight adjustments. Those changes document a response to feedback about specific Vault Edition cosmetics. They do not establish a universal rule that future crossovers or stylized skins will be revised or withheld.
