Yes—you can choose music while riding Vi-O-La in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but the radio feature is unlocked by the Samus amiibo from the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Series. Nintendo says tapping that figure unlocks the Vi-O-La Radio, which lets you change the background music while riding in Sol Valley.
What the Vi-O-La Radio does
The radio gives you a choice of background music during Vi-O-La rides in Sol Valley. It does not mean that all riding music is locked behind an amiibo: Sol Valley already has ambient music and environmental sounds. The amiibo unlocks the ability to select other tracks for your rides.
Nintendo Support says two additional tracks become available after you finish the game. The feature is therefore a music-selection option, with some content tied to game completion—not a requirement for having any sound while riding.
Which amiibo unlocks it?
It is the standalone Samus amiibo from the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond series. Nintendo’s product page identifies it as SKU 117562, UPC 00045496894115, and lists a November 6, 2025 release date. Nintendo lists compatibility with Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems.

That figure also grants a temporary Health Shield once per day; Nintendo’s listing additionally describes fully recovering Samus’s health. These are separate benefits from the radio.
Do not confuse it with Samus & Vi-O-La
The Samus & Vi-O-La amiibo is a different figure and does not unlock the radio. Nintendo Support describes its functions as tracking distance traveled on Vi-O-La, unlocking bike skins or customization at milestones, and increasing Boost Recovery once per day.

- This Amiibo figure features Samus Aran riding her Vi-O-La bike from the upcoming Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Compatible with Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems, the figure uses NFC technology to unlock special in-game features in supported titles. Manufactured by Nintendo.
The Sylux amiibo has separate effects: easier access to an in-game cinematic and voice lines. Other Metroid-series amiibo can play various sounds from the game. These figures are not substitutes for the standalone Samus radio unlock.

Nintendo lists the figure for Switch and Switch 2; GameSpot reported the game for both systems.
