In the United States, the Microsoft Store lists it at $49.99, with release scheduled for November 4, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. and pre-orders currently available. Microsoft positions the compact gamepad as an entry-level option for younger players, smaller hands, family gaming and portable play.
What the XBOX Nano Controller is
The XBOX Nano Controller is a smaller Xbox gamepad intended to retain the familiar control layout while fitting more easily into small hands, bags and pockets. Microsoft describes it as measuring “a little over 5 inches in length” and weighing 3.5 ounces.

Despite its reduced size, the controller includes all 18 standard gameplay inputs. That means Microsoft is presenting it as a complete gamepad rather than a simplified accessory for limited games. James Hunter, General Manager of Xbox Accessories, described it as “designed to fit nearly every pocket and budget.”

How it compares with a standard Xbox Wireless Controller
The Nano’s clearest differences are its compact dimensions, lower weight, built-in rechargeable battery and programmable Action Button. Microsoft’s launch material does not provide a complete, current side-by-side specification sheet for the standard Xbox Wireless Controller, so several comparison fields remain unconfirmed.
| Comparison point | XBOX Nano Controller | Standard Xbox Wireless Controller |
|---|---|---|
| Physical size | A little over 5 inches long | Not stated in the launch material |
| Weight | 3.5 ounces | Not stated in the launch material |
| Battery design | Rechargeable battery | Not stated in the launch material |
| Inputs | 18 standard Xbox inputs | Not stated in the launch material |
| Wireless options | Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth | Not stated in the launch material |
| Programmable Action Button | Included | Not stated in the launch material |
| US launch price | $49.99 | Not stated in the launch material |
That makes the Nano the more clearly defined choice for portability and smaller hands, while a buyer seeking a conventional controller should verify the current model’s dimensions, battery arrangement and price separately.
