MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure is a third-party CurseForge modpack by Devilswarchild that combines MineColonies settlement management with technology, magic, exploration, extra dimensions and dungeons. The newest main release listed for this guide is MineColonies Dimensional Adventure-1.21.1-1.2.5.zip, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge and uploaded August 28, 2026.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
Use CurseForge or Prism to install it, not ATLauncher or GDLauncher: the project page specifically warns that those two launchers can malfunction with the pack. Expect an actively changing experience with bugs and recipe or progression changes. This guide explains installation, version selection, colony setup, exploration planning and multiplayer administration without treating the pack as an official MineColonies release.

What MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure is
The pack’s central idea is a working settlement rather than a short sequence of combat challenges. You establish a colony, recruit citizens for specialized jobs, supply them with materials and food, expand production and then use the resulting infrastructure to support dangerous exploration. Devilswarchild describes the concept as “MineColonies, Tech, Magic and Exploration all mixed into a UNIQUE Experience!”
The project is intended for solo or community play. Its listed systems include colony construction, multiple dimensions, dungeons, expanded building materials and a broad set of NPC occupations:
#1 Best Overall
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
- Builders who construct and upgrade colony buildings.
- Farmers, fishermen, foresters and animal herders who secure renewable resources.
- Miners, smelters, bakers and cooks who turn raw materials into building supplies and food.
- Crafters and delivery workers who keep production chains supplied.
- Guards who protect citizens and the settlement.
The result is best understood as a management-and-adventure pack. MineColonies provides the logistical backbone; technology and magic offer alternate ways to process materials or improve equipment; dimensions and dungeons provide destinations that demand preparation.
Is it an official MineColonies pack?
No. The CurseForge project is made by Devilswarchild and states that it is not officially associated with the MineColonies Dev Team or any official MineColonies packs. “MineColonies” in the title identifies the project’s major gameplay foundation, not an endorsement or publication relationship.

Current Minecraft version and release choices
At the time of the listed release data, the newest main file is MineColonies Dimensional Adventure-1.21.1-1.2.5.zip for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. The file was uploaded on August 28, 2026. The files page also retains releases for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge and Minecraft 1.19.2, so you must select the same Minecraft version and loader shown by the file you intend to play.
| Release family | Loader | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft 1.21.1, pack 1.2.5 | NeoForge | Newest main release listed; use this when you want the current content line. |
| Minecraft 1.20.1 | Forge | Older supported file family; install the exact Forge profile selected by the pack. |
| Minecraft 1.19.2 | Forge | Older release family retained on the files page; use only when a group or existing world requires it. |
Do not open a 1.20.1 or 1.19.2 world in the 1.21.1 instance and assume it is a routine update. Mod identifiers, world-generation rules, recipes and block behavior can change between loader and Minecraft families. Keep separate instances and make a backup before testing a newer file.
Which launcher should you use?
The project page recommends CurseForge or Prism. It specifically warns that ATLauncher and GDLauncher can bug out with this pack. That is a compatibility warning for this project, not a general judgment about every pack those launchers support.

| Launcher path | Recommendation | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| CurseForge | Preferred | The pack is published on CurseForge, so its profile and file metadata are available in the same ecosystem. |
| Prism | Preferred | The project lists Prism as an alternative supported path for managing instances. |
| ATLauncher | Avoid for this pack | The project page reports that the pack can bug out there. |
| GDLauncher | Avoid for this pack | The project page reports that the pack can bug out there. |
For a group, standardize on one launcher when possible. Everyone still needs the same Minecraft version, loader, pack release and configuration; merely using the same launcher does not synchronize mismatched files.
Install the pack step by step
CurseForge installation
- Install the CurseForge launcher and open its Minecraft section.
- Search for MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure by Devilswarchild. Verify the author and project name before installing a similarly titled result.
- Select the file for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge if you want the newest listed main release, or choose the older 1.20.1 Forge or 1.19.2 Forge file deliberately.
- Let the launcher create a separate profile. Do not add the pack’s mods to an unrelated vanilla or Forge instance.
- Start the profile once. Allow the launcher to download dependencies, then wait at the title screen before changing settings.
- Close the game and copy the instance or at least its
savesfolder before you create an important colony.
Prism installation
- Install Prism and sign in with the Minecraft account that owns the game.
- Create a new instance and choose the exact Minecraft version used by the pack file.
- Choose the matching loader: NeoForge for the 1.21.1 release, Forge for the listed 1.20.1 and 1.19.2 releases.
- Use Prism’s modpack import or download flow to select the CurseForge project and its exact release.
- Launch the instance once, then return to the instance settings if you need to adjust Java or allocate memory according to your own hardware.
- Back up the instance before adding optional mods. Extra mods are not part of the published pack and can create conflicts that the creator cannot reproduce.
First-launch checks
- The title screen should show the expected Minecraft version and loader rather than vanilla Minecraft.
- The main menu should load without a missing-mod or dependency error.
- Create a temporary test world and confirm that terrain generates normally before investing hours in a permanent seed.
- Exit cleanly, then relaunch the same profile to check that the instance has retained its configuration.
How to start a colony without stalling
Your first decision is geographic. Choose a site with enough level ground for the Town Hall, housing, warehouse and production buildings, plus room for roads and later upgrades. A picturesque cliff or cramped island can work, but it increases the amount of terraforming and transport your builders must perform. Leave expansion space instead of filling every nearby block with decorative structures.
1. Establish the Town Hall area
Place the Town Hall where it can anchor the settlement and where future districts can remain within practical reach. Before committing, walk the surrounding area and identify food sources, wood, stone, water and a safe route to mining. The pack adds exploration goals, but a remote start without basic materials turns every upgrade into a long supply trip.
2. Provide housing early
Citizens need homes before you can expand the workforce. Build the initial housing requested by the pack’s progression, then keep additional space available for new residents. A colony that recruits faster than it can house people creates an administrative bottleneck even when raw materials are plentiful.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3. Build a warehouse and delivery network
The warehouse is the colony’s logistical center. It gives delivery workers a place to route supplies and lets you see which materials are missing from production chains. Keep it close enough to the first work area that couriers do not spend the entire day walking between distant buildings. As the colony grows, plan satellite storage or additional infrastructure rather than extending every path across one enormous district.
4. Add food and basic production
Secure food before sending citizens or players on long expeditions. Farmers, fishermen, foresters and animal herders cover different renewable-resource needs, while bakers and cooks convert ingredients into usable meals. Miners, smelters and crafters then turn gathered materials into construction components and equipment. Build the jobs that remove your current bottleneck rather than placing every available hut at once.

5. Assign workers and keep them supplied
MineColonies jobs are not self-sustaining simply because the building exists. Workers need tools, fuel, ingredients or construction materials appropriate to their role. Watch requests and delivery queues, then decide whether the missing item belongs in your own inventory, a farm expansion or a new production building. Guards are valuable before you begin ambitious exploration because a poorly defended colony can lose time to repeated attacks or interruptions.
Colony-first or exploration-first?
Both approaches work, but they create different early-game risks. Use the comparison below to choose deliberately rather than drifting between objectives.

| Colony-first | Town Hall, housing, warehouse, food and production | Creates a stable supply chain and workers who automate routine tasks. | Dimension and dungeon content arrives later. |
| Exploration-first | Personal equipment, food, travel supplies and a safe return route | Reaches unusual resources, dimensions and dungeons quickly. | Every setback is expensive when the colony cannot yet replace tools, food or materials. |
For a first playthrough, a hybrid opening is usually easier: establish the Town Hall, basic housing, warehouse and reliable food, then make short scouting trips. Once the colony can replace common tools and meals, commit to longer dimension or dungeon runs. This preserves the pack’s adventure focus without making every death or lost expedition an economic crisis.
Using technology, magic, dimensions and dungeons
The project description confirms that the pack includes technology, magic, additional dimensions and dungeons. It does not provide a single authoritative list of every dimension name or dungeon type in the release description, so do not assume that a guide written for another version describes your world exactly. The active-development status means content and recipes can change between releases.
Prepare an expedition from the colony
- Fill a dependable food supply and carry spare tools rather than relying on a single high-value item.
- Bring blocks for emergency shelter, markers for your route and a way to transport loot back to storage.
- Finish or pause vulnerable colony tasks before leaving if your absence would leave citizens without critical deliveries.
- Record the entrance or portal location and keep a return path that does not depend on memory alone.
- Leave replacement equipment and food at home so one failed trip does not halt colony production.
Let progression systems support each other
Technology and magic should solve specific constraints: faster processing, safer travel, better equipment or access to materials that are awkward to obtain by hand. Compare the cost of a new machine or magical setup with the colony’s existing ability to supply ingredients, power or components. A powerful block that consumes resources your settlement cannot yet produce may delay more useful upgrades.
Use dungeons as deliberate objectives, not random detours. Scout the surrounding area, improve defenses and establish a recovery plan before carrying rare colony resources into an unknown structure. When a new dimension becomes available, treat its first visit as reconnaissance: learn terrain, hazards and return logistics before attempting a large haul.

Playing with friends
Multiplayer is supported, and the project publishes server-pack files for supported versions. A dedicated server should use the same Minecraft version, loader and modpack release as every client. If the server runs the 1.21.1 NeoForge release, every player should install that exact profile rather than an older Forge file.
Divide responsibilities instead of duplicating work
- Colony manager: monitors citizen requests, building priorities and upgrades.
- Logistics player: maintains farms, storage, delivery routes and bulk materials.
- Explorer: maps nearby terrain, dimensions and dungeon entrances.
- Combat and security player: improves equipment and helps protect the settlement.
- Builder or decorator: lays out districts, roads and defensive structures while the workforce handles construction.
Agree on naming and storage conventions early. A shared warehouse becomes difficult to use when everyone deposits materials in random chests, and a colony can appear “out of resources” simply because supplies are scattered. Keep a central staging area for building requests and label specialist materials.
Dedicated-server checklist
- Download the server-pack files corresponding to the exact pack and Minecraft release you selected.
- Install the required loader on the server and confirm that the server starts before inviting players.
- Distribute the matching client profile to every participant.
- Test joining with a temporary world before creating the permanent colony.
- Back up the world and configuration files on a schedule, especially before updating the pack.
- Announce maintenance and version changes so no player launches an outdated client into the updated world.
The published material confirms server-pack availability, but it does not establish a universal player limit or server-performance target. Capacity depends on hardware, simulation settings, world activity and the number of active machines and citizens; do not treat the pack page as a performance guarantee.
Updates, bugs and save protection
Devilswarchild labels the project as active development and warns that players should expect bugs and lifecycle changes. That status is part of the pack’s identity: a newer release may add content while also changing recipes, world generation or progression behavior.
Update safely
- Read the release notes and confirm that the new file still uses the same Minecraft version and loader.
- Close the game and make a complete copy of the world and instance.
- Test the update in a duplicate instance first. Load a copy of the world and inspect the colony, inventories, portals and machines.
- Only after the test succeeds, update the live instance or server.
- Keep the previous instance available so you can return to the last known-good release.
Common failure branches
The launcher crashes or shows missing dependencies
Verify that you are using CurseForge or Prism, then check the Minecraft and loader pairing. A 1.21.1 NeoForge profile cannot substitute for a 1.20.1 Forge dependency set. Recreate the profile if files were manually removed or mixed with another instance.
The game opens but the world will not load
Confirm that the world belongs to the same pack release. Remove optional mods you added, restore the previous backup and test the published profile without custom changes. If the problem began after an update, compare the old and new instances rather than repeatedly opening the only copy of the save.

Citizens stop working
Check the warehouse and delivery queues, then inspect whether workers have the tools, fuel, ingredients or building materials their jobs request. Verify that paths are not blocked and that the relevant building remains within the colony’s operating area. A stalled worker is often a supply or access problem rather than a damaged save.
Exploration leaves the colony short of supplies
Return to a stable food and materials routine before attempting another long trip. Add the production job that addresses the shortage, store a reserve at home and use shorter reconnaissance runs until the colony can replace expedition equipment.
Who should play this pack?
Choose MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure if you want a long-form Minecraft world in which settlement planning and automation are as important as combat and discovery. It suits players who enjoy watching a workforce develop, arranging supply chains and setting personal goals across multiple systems.
It is a weaker fit if you want a finished, tightly balanced campaign or a fully documented list of every dimension and recipe. The creator’s active-development warning means that some mechanics can be rough, and the third-party status means official MineColonies documentation will not answer every pack-specific question. Players comfortable with backups, version pinning and occasional troubleshooting will get the most from it.
Final verdict
Install the latest listed 1.21.1 NeoForge release through CurseForge or Prism, establish a compact but expandable colony, and treat exploration as something your production network enables. Build the Town Hall, housing, warehouse, food chain and essential jobs before committing to deep dimensions or dungeons. In multiplayer, synchronize the exact release and use the published server-pack files. Most importantly, keep backups and expect change: this is a third-party pack in active development, not a fixed official MineColonies edition.
