How many copies of Minecraft have been sold?
Mojang said at Minecraft Live 2023 that Minecraft had recently passed 300 million copies sold. Xbox Wire published its recap on October 16, 2023; Guinness World Records dates the milestone to October 15, 2023. The figure is a reported threshold, not an exact count or a breakdown by platform or region.

For comparison, Guinness World Records lists 350,000,000 units sold as of April 2025. Its record page says Mojang confirmed that figure in the official Minecraft Annual 2026. Why was the 15th anniversary part of the announcement?
The 300-million milestone was announced in the run-up to Minecraft’s 15th anniversary. The Xbox Wire recap said the game would turn 15 the following year, and the official anniversary page marks the celebration in 2024. The anniversary explains the timing; it does not make the 300-million figure a 2024 or current sales total.

The announcement establishes that the game had passed the 300-million threshold by October 2023. It does not provide a precise unit count, platform-by-platform totals, or a geographic sales breakdown. The later Guinness listing gives another dated benchmark, but it should not be treated as a live total for 2026.
