The holiday deal behind this headline was a past offer, not a verified current discount. Windows Central reported on December 23, 2025, that the PC Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition bundle was $21.99 at Amazon.com, down from $29.99, with the offer scheduled to end January 8, 2026. The sources available here do not establish a 2026 holiday sale or price.
Is Minecraft on sale for the holidays?
Not on the basis of the reported deal: it expired on January 8, 2026. The Windows Central article described discounts of 25% or more across platforms, but its specific PC price was an Amazon.com offer for the Java & Bedrock bundle. That dated US listing is not a current quote or confirmation that the same discount is available elsewhere.

Minecraft’s official promotion information establishes a 2026 summer sale for Marketplace content, not a holiday sale on the base game. The sale ran from 10 a.m. PT June 30 to 10 a.m. PT July 28, 2026, and covered add-ons for Bedrock Edition, which was sold separately. Minecraft’s Marketplace Summer Sale 2026 announcement does not establish a later holiday base-game offer.
No 2026 holiday price or sale announcement is established by these sources, so check the retailer or platform store directly for a live offer before buying.

How much was Minecraft during the holiday sale?
Windows Central listed the PC Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition bundle at Amazon.com for $21.99, reduced from $29.99. The publisher described that as “Save 27% ($8).” These were the article’s reported US Amazon prices in December 2025; the offer was scheduled to end January 8, 2026.
The same article also mentioned an Xbox Deluxe Collection at $21.99, but the cited details do not establish its full contents or current availability. It is a different product from the PC Java & Bedrock bundle, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable offers.

Does Minecraft ever go on sale?
Yes, Minecraft promotions have occurred, but discounts can be limited by date, platform, region, or product. For example, Minecraft’s official 15th-anniversary article advertised discounts of up to 50% on Minecraft games and up to 70% on Android and iOS, while noting that discounts could vary by region or platform. That was a historical anniversary promotion, not evidence of current pricing or a 2026 holiday discount. Read Minecraft’s 15th-anniversary promotion details.
When comparing an offer, confirm the edition and platform as well as the price and sale end date. A discount on Marketplace add-ons, a mobile version, an Xbox collection, or the PC bundle may apply to different products.

Which Minecraft version should I buy?
Choose based first on where you play and where the people you want to play with are. The PC bundle includes Java and Bedrock, but their multiplayer ecosystems and features differ. Minecraft’s official PC store page lists Java cross-play for Windows, Mac, and Linux, while Bedrock cross-play includes Windows, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and mobile.
- Choose Java when: you play on Windows, Mac, or Linux and want to join friends in Java Edition or use its mod ecosystem.
- Choose Bedrock when: you want to play across Windows, consoles, and mobile with friends on Bedrock, or prefer its Marketplace content and broader controller and touch support.
- Check feature details: the official store page lists differences including mods, Marketplace, controller and touch support, and split-screen. Verify the feature you need for your specific platform before purchasing.
If you buy the PC game, Minecraft says you can download it again on a new computer by signing in with the same Microsoft account used for the purchase.
