Sales and active users are separate results
GamesBeat also reported Sensor Tower estimates that Minecraft active users increased 9% on mobile and 41% on console. These are user figures, not revenue or units sold, and they should not be added to or substituted for the 35% sales measures.
Microsoft separately said during its FY2025 third-quarter earnings call that Minecraft weekly active users had increased by more than 75% year over year since the film’s release. That company-reported statistic is a year-over-year engagement comparison, not a sales result, and uses a different measure and baseline from Sensor Tower’s figures.

Why another report gives 44% and 36%
A separate 2025 Sensor Tower report excerpt, “Transmedia opportunities: Capitalizing on existing intellectual property,” lists 44% growth in mobile in-app purchase revenue and 36% growth in console games sold for April. Those figures have different framing from the post-release 35% figures reported by GamesBeat. The available excerpt does not provide enough methodological detail to determine whether the periods, baselines, or platform coverage match, so the figures should be attributed separately rather than treated as a correction or a contradiction.

Taken together, the reports indicate increased Minecraft sales measures and player activity following the movie’s release. They do not isolate the film as the sole cause of those changes.
