Its 16-core Ryzen 9 8945HX and low-profile, desktop-class GeForce RTX 5060 make it a strong 1080p machine and a competent 1440p system. The trade-offs are substantial fan noise under heavy load, limited USB-A connectivity, uncertain long-term GPU-upgrade options, and value that depends heavily on the current price.
It is a compelling alternative to a larger desktop for buyers who prioritize space, portability, and a built-in power supply. It is less attractive if you can accommodate a conventional SFF tower and want quieter cooling, easier repairs, or a broader upgrade path.

- 【Expandable Storage】This Mini Computer has pre-installed 32GB DDR5-5200MT/s RAM and 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe4.0 SSD. However, you could expand the DDR5 RAM up to 64GB and 2TB for the SSD. There is another M.2 2280 PCIe4.0 slot available for expanding the storage. Without worrying about lack of capacity, you can run software smoothly, watch and storage large-scale movies, photos without any stress.
Its console-like vertical shape works well beside a television, on a small desk, or in an apartment where a conventional tower would be intrusive. It can also be placed horizontally, provided ventilation is not blocked. The internal PSU is a particularly useful design choice: there is no large external power brick competing with the PC for floor or desk space.
The compact enclosure does require compromises. Airflow and component access are more constrained than in a larger SFF tower, and the cooling system has to move considerable heat through a small volume. The system’s RGB lighting adds a gaming-PC aesthetic, although it can be less discreet than some living-room buyers would prefer.
Minisforum’s official specifications list a 350W integrated power supply and claim a cooling capacity of 300W. Those are manufacturer ratings, not independent measurements of temperatures or sustained acoustic performance.

Ryzen 9 8945HX: powerful on paper, but still a compact-platform CPU
The Ryzen 9 8945HX is not the eight-core Ryzen 9 8945HS. It has 16 cores and 32 threads, with a maximum boost of 5.4GHz, giving the G1 Pro substantial multithreaded potential for compiling, rendering, encoding, and other demanding work.
However, the “Ryzen 9” badge should not be treated as proof of flagship desktop CPU performance. The processor is part of a mobile-derived compact system, and its sustained behavior depends on power mode, cooling, and memory configuration. Gaming at 1440p is often GPU-limited, but esports titles at very high refresh rates and CPU-heavy games can expose those limits.
The RTX 5060 is desktop-class, in a low-profile implementation
The G1 Pro’s most important distinction is that it uses a low-profile, desktop-class GeForce RTX 5060 rather than the lower-power RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. Minisforum advertises a 145W implementation, and independent coverage describes the graphics card as desktop-grade.

- Intelligent Cooling Design & Energy Saving: The CPU and SSD are equipped with independent fans, and the memory and built-in power supply adopt efficient heat dissipation design, which further enhances the heat dissipation performance. Even under high load, it can keep the full load noise as low as 45dB and the maximum power consumption of 65W; built-in 135W power adapter to reduce stability issues and noise related to the power adapter connection.
That does not make it identical to every full-size RTX 5060. PC Gamer found it slightly behind a full-size desktop comparison in at least one result. The compact cooling system, power limits, CPU platform, and card implementation can all affect sustained performance.
The card has 8GB of GDDR7. That is adequate for the system’s intended 1080p and 1440p role, but demanding future games with high-resolution textures may require reduced settings or more reliance on upscaling. It is also a consideration for local AI workloads, where VRAM capacity can matter more than general GPU speed.
Gaming performance
The G1 Pro is best understood as a high-refresh-rate 1080p PC that can also deliver good 1440p results, rather than as a 4K Ultra machine. Independent PC Gamer testing produced the following results:
| Game | Resolution and settings | Average | 1% low |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cyberpunk 2077 | 1440p, Medium, with upscaling | 86 fps | 69 fps |
| Baldur’s Gate 3 | 1440p, Ultra | 59 fps | 42 fps |
| Metro Exodus Enhanced | 1440p, Ultra | 52 fps | 36 fps |
| Total War: Warhammer 3 | 1440p, Ultra, battle benchmark | 72 fps | — |
| Total War: Warhammer 3 | 1440p, Ultra, campaign benchmark | 65 fps | — |
These results are not directly interchangeable. The Cyberpunk result uses upscaling, while the other entries are reported at their stated presets; ray tracing and frame-generation settings must also be considered when comparing results. DLSS Super Resolution reduces the rendering workload, and frame generation increases displayed frame rate without producing the same responsiveness as native rendered frames.
In practical terms, 1080p gaming should be comfortable across a broad range of titles, including high-refresh-rate play when settings and the game engine allow it. At 1440p, the experience is strongest when using a sensible mix of High or Ultra settings, DLSS where useful, and selective ray tracing. Demanding games at native 1440p Ultra will not consistently deliver a locked 60fps, especially when ray tracing is enabled.
Thermals, noise, and performance modes
Noise is the G1 Pro’s clearest everyday compromise. Tom’s Guide measured approximately 40dB during ordinary work and up to 60dB during a demanding game such as Death Stranding 2. The distance from the system matters: 60dB beside a monitor is intrusive, while the same machine several feet away in a living room may be less distracting.

An OCuLink adapter is included in the package.
Minisforum’s software provides Work, Gaming, and Beast modes. Tom’s Guide reported CPU power limits ranging from roughly 60W to 100W across those modes. Work mode is the sensible choice for office use and quieter desk sessions. Gaming or Beast mode can preserve higher sustained performance, but the cost is more aggressive fan behavior.
PC Gamer’s assessment was mixed: gaming thermals were acceptable, while CPU-heavy productivity workloads placed greater pressure on the cooling system. Do not generalize one mode or one benchmark into a universal claim that the G1 Pro is either cool or excessively hot.
Memory and storage: check the exact configuration
The headline 32GB memory capacity hides an important detail. Tom’s Guide reported that its review unit shipped with a single 32GB DDR5 module, leaving the system in single-channel operation. That can reduce performance in memory-sensitive and CPU-oriented workloads, and it may partly explain weaker-than-expected CPU benchmark behavior.
Before buying or comparing results, verify whether your particular SKU uses one 32GB module or a matched dual-channel kit, along with the installed memory speed. For gaming, 2×16GB is generally the more sensible 32GB arrangement when available. A second matching 32GB module is more appropriate for heavy creation, virtualization, or other workloads that genuinely need 64GB.
Minisforum lists support for up to 96GB, but that is expansion headroom rather than a gaming requirement. Adding memory may also have warranty or compatibility implications, so consult the system documentation and confirm the supported SO-DIMM specification first.
The 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive is a reasonable starting point, but modern game libraries can consume it quickly. Two M.2 slots make adding storage more convenient than replacing the only drive. Minisforum claims up to 8TB total; actual compatibility depends on drive size, thermals, and the shipped internal mounting hardware.

Can the GPU be upgraded?
The low-profile graphics card is physically more accessible than the soldered graphics hardware found in most gaming laptops. Tom’s Guide described it as a standard low-profile GPU that could theoretically be replaced by a future compatible card.
That is a potential advantage, not a guaranteed upgrade program. A replacement card would need to fit the chassis, use compatible power and connectors, work with the firmware, and remain within the cooling system’s limits. Low-profile GPU availability is also much narrower than full-size desktop-card availability. Do not buy the G1 Pro on the assumption that a future RTX 6060—or any particular card—will work.
RAM and M.2 storage are the more realistic user upgrades. The GPU’s replaceability should be considered a bonus that may extend the system’s usefulness, not a promise of a broad future upgrade ecosystem.
Ports and connectivity
The G1 Pro has two USB-C ports, three USB-A ports, two HDMI 2.1 outputs, two DisplayPort outputs, 3.5mm audio, 5GbE, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. Coverage differs on the precise DisplayPort version and bandwidth description, so buyers who need a specific high-resolution or high-refresh combination should confirm the shipped unit’s manual.
Display connectivity is generous, and the system is suitable for multi-monitor setups. USB connectivity is less impressive. A keyboard, mouse, controller, webcam, headset dongle, speakers, and external drive can quickly consume all three USB-A ports. A powered USB hub is a practical addition, particularly if external storage or several bus-powered accessories are involved.

- Intelligent Cooling Design & Energy Saving: The CPU and SSD are equipped with independent fans, while the memory and built-in power supply feature an efficient heat dissipation design. This setup ensures enhanced thermal management throughout the system. Even under high load conditions, it maintains a full-load noise level as low as 45dB and keeps maximum power consumption at 65W. Additionally, the built-in 135W power adapter minimizes stability issues and noise associated with external power adapter connections.
That comparison is a snapshot, not a permanent price verdict. A self-built system may offer a faster or more conventional desktop CPU, quieter cooling, a larger power supply, and easier component replacement. The G1 Pro counters with an unusually compact enclosure, integrated power, prebuilt convenience, and no SFF assembly or compatibility troubleshooting.
Compare complete systems rather than parts alone: include the Windows license, assembly time, warranty, return policy, cooling, noise, and the local availability of replacement components.
Who should buy the G1 Pro?
- Buy it if you need a very small gaming PC, mainly play at 1080p or 1440p, value an internal PSU, and prefer a finished system over building an SFF desktop.
- Buy it if you want dual NVMe expansion, modern wireless networking, 5GbE, and the option to add memory later.
- Avoid it if you need a quiet PC beside your monitor or routinely use more USB-A peripherals than a hub can conveniently support.
- Avoid it if you can fit a larger SFF tower and prioritize lower noise, maximum performance per dollar, or a broad full-size GPU upgrade path.
Alternatives by buyer type
A larger DIY SFF desktop is the better choice for maximum flexibility, quieter cooling, and easier access to standard components. A conventional prebuilt gaming desktop offers more component choice and typically better airflow, but consumes substantially more space.
A gaming laptop includes its own display, keyboard, battery, and portability, although it is usually less convenient as a permanent desktop and may use a lower-power mobile GPU. An integrated-graphics mini PC is smaller, cheaper, and often quieter, but is not a comparable choice for modern AAA gaming. A console provides simpler plug-and-play gaming, while the G1 Pro offers broader PC software, upgradeable storage, and desktop productivity.
What you may need alongside it
- A second compatible DDR5 SO-DIMM if the shipped system uses one 32GB module.
- A powered USB hub for several wired peripherals, dongles, or external drives.
- A second M.2 NVMe SSD for a large game library or creative files.
- A 1440p high-refresh-rate monitor that matches the system’s performance profile.
- A headset or a position several feet away if high-load fan noise is distracting.
Final verdict
The Minisforum AtomMan G1 Pro succeeds at its central mission: it puts credible desktop-class RTX 5060 gaming performance into a 3.8-liter PC with an integrated power supply. It is particularly convincing for 1080p and sensible 1440p gaming, and its dual-drive design, modern networking, and accessible memory make it more practical than a typical sealed mini PC.
It is not a universal desktop replacement. The noise under demanding loads, limited USB-A ports, single-channel memory in at least one reviewed configuration, and uncertain GPU-upgrade ecosystem all matter. At roughly $1,495, buy it for its compactness and convenience—not because it delivers the best raw performance per dollar. For the right small-space gamer, it is a strong and distinctive option; for everyone else, a larger SFF desktop remains the more flexible choice.
