Mission: Captis is listed in Bungie’s Year 8 Destiny Content Vault, so first check the in-game Portal to see whether it is currently available. If you can launch it, the key to the eye-wall puzzle is to match the displayed Hive rune by shooting only the Eyes of Vengeance named for that round—not every Acolyte Eye.
Check whether Mission: Captis is available
Bungie’s Destiny Content Vault page says that certain destinations, seasonal content, activities, and quests entered the vault with Year 8 on July 15, 2025. It specifically lists Mission: Captis under Quest Missions. Bungie also says, “Activities may be re-added into the Portal during later releases.” The page does not confirm whether Captis has returned since then, so check the in-game Portal before following a launch marker or assuming the mission is available.

How to solve the binding and eye-wall puzzle
Reach the ritual plate and start the encounter
- Begin in the Hall of Souls and follow the mission marker to the large portal.
- Trigger the encounter at the ritual plate. Clear the enemies as the binding sequence begins.
- A Subjugator appears during the sequence and is described as immune at this stage. Focus on the enemy waves and puzzle progression rather than trying to damage it.
Match the Hive rune with the Eyes of Vengeance
When the wall of Acolyte Eyes appears, use the nearby displayed Hive rune as your pattern. Identify the selected Eyes of Vengeance by their names, then shoot those targets and leave the other eyes intact. A walkthrough notes that incorrect shots cause eyes to respawn; the rune on screen, not a nickname or guess, is the pattern to follow.
A guide describes the three rounds visually as an n-like shape with ellipses, a V-shaped rune sometimes nicknamed “pizza,” and a circle. These are guide descriptions, not official names for the runes. Match what your game displays in each round rather than relying on those labels.
#1 Best Overall
- Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
Finish the rounds and clear the waves
Complete each of the three rune rounds, clear the following enemy waves, and defeat the remaining enemies to finish the mission. The eye wall is a rune-matching mechanic: shooting everything can disrupt the sequence instead of advancing it.

What to do if Mission: Captis will not progress
- Check the target names. A March 2025 Bungie forum help thread contains player advice to shoot only the three differently named target eyes in a round. Treat this as community guidance, not an official fix: Bungie forum thread.
- Avoid lingering damage on the eye wall. One player reported that poison spreading from Osteo Striga kept killing eyes and confused the puzzle. If the wall is behaving unexpectedly, switch to a weapon without continuing damage effects and carefully shoot only the Eyes of Vengeance. This is an anecdotal workaround, not a guaranteed solution: Bungie forum report.
- Return to the visible rune. Recheck the displayed pattern before firing again; do not assume an eye that respawned is meant to be shot.
