What did MLB The Show 25 announce first?
Insider Gaming’s November 21, 2024 report reproduced four areas from San Diego Studio’s teaser. The official post could not be accessed during reporting, so the points below reflect the teaser as reproduced by Insider Gaming, not a full feature specification.

- Road to the Show: A deeper journey before the player is drafted, with more control over how the player develops.
- Diamond Dynasty: Sets and Seasons would be removed, and the report said cards could be used freely throughout the year. The studio also teased new elements without explaining them in detail.
- Franchise: Better trade-evaluation metrics and a new offseason experience.
- Gameplay: Expanded quick-time events, along with updates to defensive AI and pathing. The teaser’s reproduced wording was: “With the expansion of quick time events, defensive AI, and pathing updates, enjoy more engaging moment-to-moment gameplay.”
Insider Gaming’s November 21, 2024 report linked to the studio post and summarized its teaser. At that point, the report described the launch only as spring 2025 and said platforms were still to come; those were announcement-era details, not current release information.
What did removing Sets and Seasons mean for Diamond Dynasty?
The key promise was that cards would no longer be restricted by the Sets and Seasons structure and could be used freely throughout the year. That was the practical player-facing implication stated in the first-details report. The teaser did not spell out every Diamond Dynasty rule or explain all the new elements, so it should not be treated as a complete guide to the mode.

What did later official documentation add?
The official MLB The Show 25 manual documents features of the released game. These details provide a fuller picture, but they were not all specified in the November 2024 teaser.
Road to the Show
The manual describes a journey that includes high-school and college baseball, a choice among eight universities, and player-attribute customization using earned Show Points.

Which platforms and online requirements are documented?
The manual’s table of contents identifies versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. For Diamond Dynasty sub-modes, it says an internet connection is required. Some online modes also require a platform subscription, with requirements varying by mode:
- PS5: PlayStation Plus for some online modes.
- Xbox: Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate for some online modes.
- Nintendo Switch: Nintendo Switch Online for some online modes.
These are not blanket requirements for every mode. Check the manual section for the specific mode and platform you plan to use.
