The claim was not verified: Epic said there was “zero evidence” it was legitimate and that the group had not contacted the company or provided proof.
What Mogilevich claimed it stole
In a report published February 28, 2024, HotHardware said Mogilevich claimed it had taken 189 GB of Epic Games data and offered the material for sale. The group’s reported list included email addresses, passwords, full names, payment information, source code and unspecified additional data. Those were the group’s allegations; the report did not independently confirm that any of the material existed or came from Epic.

The 189 GB figure was Mogilevich’s claim, not a measured or independently validated amount of stolen data. HotHardware reported that the group set March 4, 2024, as a sale deadline, but that historical deadline does not establish whether a sale or publication later occurred. Read HotHardware’s report.
Did Epic Games confirm a breach?
No. Epic Games’ contemporaneous response, quoted by HotHardware, was: “There is zero evidence right now that the ransomware claims from Mogilevich are legitimate.” The report also quoted Epic as saying, “Mogilevich has not contacted Epic or provided any proof.” These statements describe Epic’s position on February 28, 2024; they do not establish what any later investigation may have found.

- The cards in your deck are your champions, who fight for you, and events, which represent your will imposed on the mortal realm.
- The turn sequence is easy but there are many options to choose from
On the information in the report, there is no confirmed Epic breach, exposed customer password, or stolen payment record to report as fact. The careful distinction is that Mogilevich made a claim, while the article supplied no independent verification and Epic said the group had provided it no proof.
What was the reported attempt to verify the claim?
HotHardware said BleepingComputer’s Lawrence Abrams contacted Mogilevich seeking evidence. The group reportedly declined to provide proof unless it was shown “proof of funds” totaling $15,000. That reported condition is not evidence that the alleged data was authentic, and a demand for money cannot substitute for independent verification.

What is known—and what is not
- Known: Mogilevich publicly claimed it had stolen Epic Games data, and HotHardware reported the claim and Epic’s response on February 28, 2024.
- Not established in that report: Whether Mogilevich possessed genuine Epic data, whether the alleged files were published or sold, or whether later investigations confirmed or disproved the claim.
Because the cited account is a report of the situation at that time, it should not be treated as a current breach-status update or as proof of a later outcome.
