You can reach it either by completing White Mask Varré’s quest to obtain the Pureblood Knight’s Medal, or by using a waygate in the western Consecrated Snowfield after defeating its Sanguine Noble invader. Both routes lead to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace, the starting point for the route through the blood lake and into the mausoleum.
Where is Mohgwyn Palace?
Mohgwyn Palace lies in the underground depths associated with the Siofra River. Its map description calls the area the grave of an ancient civilization and says Mohg, Lord of Blood, is building a palace there as the seat of his coming dynasty, Mohgwyn. The map text is reproduced by the Elden Ring Wiki.

How to get to Mohgwyn Palace
The medal route depends on Varré’s quest, while the waygate route requires access to the late-game Consecrated Snowfield. PowerPyx’s April 9, 2022 walkthrough characterizes the Varré route as available earlier, but its route timing has not been independently checked against the current game patch.

Route 1: Varré’s Pureblood Knight’s Medal
- After defeating a Shardbearer, find White Mask Varré at Rose Church in Liurnia. He first appears in Limgrave.
- Use Festering Bloody Fingers to invade other players three times. According to PowerPyx’s 2022 walkthrough, you do not need to win these invasions.
- Obtain Lord of Blood’s Favor from Varré and soak it in maiden’s blood. The walkthrough names the Church of Inhibition and Chapel of Anticipation as ways to do this.
- Return to Varré to receive the Pureblood Knight’s Medal, then use it from your inventory to travel directly to Mohgwyn Palace.
Route 2: Western Consecrated Snowfield waygate
- Reach the western edge of the Consecrated Snowfield and locate the blood-covered waygate.
- Defeat the Sanguine Noble that invades near the portal. The location reference describes the waygate as inactive until this enemy is defeated.
- Use the waygate, follow the passage out of the dark cave, and descend to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace.
From Palace Approach Ledge-Road to Dynasty Mausoleum
The route from the first grace loops north around cliffs toward the blood lake, then continues to the mausoleum. The following directions and enemy behavior come from PowerPyx’s walkthrough published April 9, 2022.
- From Palace Approach Ledge-Road, follow the path north around the cliffs, past the Albinaurics, toward the blood lake. Grey Albinaurics are passive unless provoked; red ones are aggressive. Torrent is available in the lower area, so you can ride past many enemies.
- Keep to the outside edge as you proceed. Some horned enemies summon skeleton ghosts; killing the summoner makes its skeletons disappear.
- For the Golden Seed near a phantom tree in the blood lake, take the detour with care: dogs and large birds can make the area dangerous. Otherwise, continue to the stairs.
- Pick up the Map: Mohgwyn Palace on the way to the stairs, then climb to the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance grace.
- Inside the mausoleum stretch, several enemies explode when killed and inflict Bleed. If your priority is reaching the next checkpoint, the walkthrough recommends running past them. A large red enemy can be bypassed on its left.
- Continue through the dark doorway and cave. The Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint grace is just outside the cave exit.
Optional items and the route to Mohg
From Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint, an optional fight near a statue pits you against Albinaurics and a Sanguine Noble. A chest there contains a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. The elevator opposite the statue leads toward Mohg’s boss room, according to the 2022 PowerPyx walkthrough.

Mohg, Lord of Blood: optional boss and rewards
Mohg is an optional Shardbearer and the area’s major boss. PowerPyx’s 2022 walkthrough lists a reward of 420,000 runes, Mohg’s Great Rune, and the Remembrance of the Blood Lord. Treat the rune total as that guide’s reported reward, not as a newly measured or independently verified current-patch result.

It names the Purifying Crystal Tear as an option to reduce damage from that sequence. These are guide-dated tactics, not advice verified for the current patch. After the fight, the Cocoon of the Empyrean grace is available. The walkthrough says Mohg’s Great Rune is activated at the Divine Tower of East Altus.

Palace Approach Ledge-Road is also a commonly used farming starting point. A community-edited location reference describes the nearby Albinauric hillside as a rune source and notes that a player can shoot the giant crow across the swamp, prompting it to run off a cliff. Wide-area attacks can clear groups of Albinaurics. Your yield depends on your build and setup; no universal current rate is established by the cited sources.
