As of 13 October 2026, the game is unreleased. Official pages list Steam and a planned 2027 release, and the Steam listing says it is not yet available for purchase. The specific accessibility menu, remapping options and supported input devices have not been documented by the consulted official sources, so treat the checklist below as a pre-start guide rather than a promise of final features.

What difficulty should I choose before I start?
The only named difficulty-style option currently confirmed is the advertised casual mode. The official Steam description says, “A casual mode is also available, so you can enjoy the story and your adventure with Musashi at your own pace.” It does not explain whether casual changes enemy damage, enemy health, parry timing, resource availability, checkpointing or any other individual combat rule.

This distinction matters for players who need a predictable reduction in reaction demand. “Casual” communicates the intended pace, but it is not evidence of an aim assist, extended parry window, automatic guard, slower enemies or an adjustable damage multiplier. Does Mononoke no Kuni have an easy mode?
It has a casual mode by name, according to the official store description. “Easy mode” is not the label used in the cited material, and the developer has not published the mode’s rule set. The safest answer is therefore: yes, a casual mode is advertised; no, its exact assistance has not been confirmed.
If you have a particular access requirement, translate it into a concrete question rather than relying on the label. For example, ask whether the mode widens parry timing, reduces the number of required inputs, lowers incoming damage, slows enemy attacks or permits encounters to be bypassed. None of those effects is established by the current official listing.

How demanding is the combat?
The store description presents a combat loop built around four named actions: charge attacks, dodges, guards and parries. It says success depends on reading timing and skill. That wording indicates an action game in which recognizing an enemy’s attack and responding at the right moment is important, even though the listing does not provide frame windows, difficulty numbers or an accessibility explanation.
Charge attacks
A charge attack implies holding or timing an offensive action rather than pressing a single attack button repeatedly. The listing confirms the action exists, but does not state how long it must be charged, whether charging can be interrupted or whether casual mode changes it.
Dodges
Dodging is listed as a player action. If you have a condition that makes rapid reactions difficult, wait for launch information that explains whether invulnerability timing, dodge duration or input buffering can be adjusted. No such setting is currently documented.

Guards and parries
Guards and parries are separate terms in the official description. That suggests the game expects players to defend manually and, in the case of a parry, to meet an attack with precise timing. The sources do not establish whether casual mode changes either window or provides an alternative defensive assist.

Can I change the accessibility settings?
The consulted official store and publisher pages do not document a dedicated accessibility menu or a complete list of toggles. That is an evidence limit, not proof that the final game will ship without accessibility options. Steam can display developer-indicated accessibility features through its store metadata, as explained in Steamworks documentation, but an unlisted feature cannot be assumed to be absent or present.
At launch, open the options menu before beginning the first substantial combat section. Check every category rather than stopping when you see the word “casual”: controls, gameplay, camera, display, audio, subtitles and language. A final settings list may be published after the current store page was written, and the developer has already described the playtest build as still under development.

Can I turn off camera movement or remap controls?
Those specific options are not confirmed. In a 21 May 2026 Steam Community announcement about the playtest, the Mononoke no Kuni Development Team said the new version introduced “a free camera that players can control directly, allowing you to look across wide environments, judge your distance from enemies, and explore the field in a more immersive 3D space.” The announcement also said the action was still being adjusted.
The statement confirms a player-controlled free camera in that playtest build. It does not confirm camera-speed controls, camera inversion, a camera-distance slider, motion-blur removal, screen-shake removal, a field-of-view setting or any other comfort toggle in the final release. It also does not confirm full control remapping, alternate layouts, one-handed controls, hold-versus-toggle choices or keyboard-and-mouse support.
What to verify for camera comfort
- Whether camera sensitivity can be lowered or raised independently from aiming or movement.
- Whether horizontal and vertical axes can be inverted separately.
- Whether camera shake, motion blur and other movement effects have individual toggles.
- Whether the camera can be recentered without holding a button.
- Whether the game supports a fixed or less dynamic camera option.
None of these items is listed as a confirmed final feature. If camera motion causes discomfort, test the opening area during the refund period applicable to your region and platform, and stop if symptoms appear; do not wait for a difficult fight to discover that the camera cannot be adjusted.

Does it have subtitles in English?
Yes. The official Steam language table lists English for the interface and subtitles. It also lists Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Indonesian, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, Polish, Russian, Korean, Swedish, Portuguese (Brazil) and Hindi for interface and subtitles. That is 18 listed interface-and-subtitle languages in total.
Japanese is listed for full audio. The cited language table does not establish full audio availability for English or the other listed languages, so do not infer dubbed voice tracks from the subtitle entries. The sources also do not specify subtitle size, speaker labels, background opacity, color controls, display duration or whether subtitles can be enabled independently for cinematics and gameplay.

- Confirm the release build. Check the Steam store page and the publisher’s official game page on the day you plan to play. As of 13 October 2026, both point to a planned 2027 Steam release, and Steam says the game is not yet purchasable.
- Open every settings category before starting. Record the available choices under gameplay, controls, camera, display, audio and subtitles. Do not assume a casual label covers separate accessibility functions.
- Test the combat actions in a safe area. Try a charge attack, dodge, guard and parry. Note whether each can be remapped, held, toggled or buffered, and whether the timing is comfortable for you.
- Check the camera immediately. Adjust sensitivity and inversion if available, then look for shake, blur, field-of-view and recentering options. The playtest announcement confirms free camera control, not these comfort settings.
- Set language and subtitle preferences. English interface and subtitles are listed, while Japanese is listed for full audio. Confirm the exact combination in the installed build.
- Test your input device. The current official material does not publish a supported-device matrix. Verify button prompts, vibration behavior and remapping with your intended controller, keyboard or other device before committing to a long session.
- Recheck official updates. The developer described the 2026 build as under development. Patch notes, a revised store page or launch documentation may add or change settings.
How to decide whether to wait
Waiting for launch information is sensible if you require a particular switch rather than a general lower difficulty. Examples include a guaranteed remappable layout, a reduced-reaction combat mode, large subtitles, camera-shake removal or a specific adaptive controller. None is confirmed in the current official material, so buying on the assumption that it exists creates avoidable risk.

The advertised casual mode may suit that goal, but its effect should be verified in the final options menu rather than inferred from its name.
Availability and version caveat
Mononoke no Kuni is not currently available for purchase. The official Steam listing and the official Happinet site identify Steam as the platform and give 2027 as the planned release window. The developer’s 21 May 2026 playtest announcement concerns a revised full-3D build and says action systems were still being adjusted. Playtest camera behavior therefore describes that version, not a guaranteed final control scheme.
Release dates, language tables and accessibility metadata can change before launch. Revisit the official listing, the publisher’s announcement feed and the in-game options screen when the release is live, especially if a particular setting is essential to your ability to play.
