Monster Hunter Wilds is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, with Capcom setting its release date for December 4, 2026. The date is official—not a conclusion drawn from update clues. GamesRadar reported possible Switch 2 indicators in a January 2026 update, but Capcom announced the platform and date on September 10, 2026.
When does Monster Hunter Wilds come to Switch 2?
Capcom’s September 10, 2026 announcement gives the Switch 2 version a release date of December 4, 2026. The game originally launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 28, 2025. Capcom’s announcement lists Nintendo Switch 2 among the platforms.

Nintendo UK displays the date as 04/12/2026, using day/month/year; it means December 4, not April 12. Nintendo’s UK listing gives the same date.
Did an update reveal the release date?
No. A January 2026 GamesRadar report described alleged clues in an update: local communication text for as many as four Switch 2 consoles and DLSS presets labelled NSW2. Those clues suggested a possible Switch 2 version; they did not announce a release date or confirm the port. Capcom’s September announcement later confirmed both the platform and date.

What Switch 2 features are confirmed?
Cross-play and multiplayer
Capcom says the Switch 2 version will support cross-play. Nintendo’s listing specifies local wireless and online play for one to four players. Nintendo says online play requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership; its listing separately offers local wireless play.
Paid expansion planned for 2027
Capcom also says the paid expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will come to Switch 2 in 2027. The expansion is described as adding new quest ranks, locales, monsters, and expanded weapon actions. Capcom first said in June 2026 that the game was in development for Switch 2 and that further details would follow; its September announcement supplied the date. Capcom’s June announcement identifies Ascendance as paid content.

What has not been announced?
The cited Capcom and Nintendo materials do not establish the Switch 2 version’s price, performance targets, final graphics settings, frame rate, save-transfer support, physical edition details, or pre-order timing. The performance discussion in the earlier datamine coverage was speculative, not a confirmed specification.
