In the current base game, there is no single combo that fits every opening—and the ignition actions shown for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance are announced expansion content, not moves available now.
How do you use the Insect Glaive in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Think of the weapon as a loop: send the Kinsect to gather extracts from the monster, use those extracts to strengthen your hunter, then attack with the glaive while the monster gives you an opportunity. Capcom describes Focus Mode as a way to coordinate attacks with the Kinsect, so keep the Kinsect involved rather than treating it as an accessory. The weapon supports both grounded and aerial play. Neither is automatically the best choice: consider the monster’s position, how long the opening is, and which approach you can use reliably. Controls differ by platform and can depend on your settings, so use move names as a guide and check the in-game controls display for the exact inputs on your setup.
How do Kinsects and extracts work?
The Kinsect gathers extracts from monsters, and those extracts buff the hunter. That makes gathering part of the weapon’s central rhythm: build the powered-up state, then spend the opening attacking. Capcom’s official Insect Glaive showcase describes using Focus Mode to coordinate attacks with the Kinsect.

Do not rely on color-by-color rules, exact buff durations, or behavior remembered from earlier games unless you have verified them for Wilds. The practical advice is to keep gathering and Kinsect coordination in your routine, and consult the in-game guide for current move details.
What combos should you use?
Choose a sequence to fit the opening instead of chasing a supposedly universal damage rotation. The available guides support describing moves and tactics, but they do not establish frame data, exact damage rankings, or a best-in-slot combo.

- Gear up to hunt, hunt to gear up – Create your character, then gather materials from each hunt and build an array of armor and weapons.
For a short or uncertain opening
Favor quicker grounded attacks when you have little time or are not sure the monster will stay vulnerable. This keeps your commitment proportionate to the opening rather than leaving you locked into a longer sequence.
For a knockdown or clear opening
When the monster is down or otherwise unable to interrupt you, use that extra time for a longer attack sequence. The particular chain should be one you can execute consistently with your platform’s controls.

When positioning favors the air
Use aerial options when they help you reach or stay on the target; choose grounded attacks when the position and opening favor them. Aerial play is an option, not a guaranteed damage upgrade.
Keep the Kinsect in the plan
Gather extracts and use Focus Mode to coordinate with the Kinsect as part of your attack rhythm. For move names and a control-oriented overview, see GameConductor’s Insect Glaive guide; treat it as orientation, not proof of patch-sensitive damage claims.

What changed for Insect Glaive in Wilds?
Capcom’s Update 1.011 material, dated May 27, 2025, reports fixes rather than describing a broad weapon overhaul. The listed Insect Glaive fixes involve:
- Kinsect aim accuracy during Harvest Extract.
- Hitboxes when entering Strong Rising Slash Combo from certain attacks.
- Kinsect ailments.
- Kinsect attacks after consecutive charging.
These notes are not a complete history of every balance change. For changes after that update, check the patch notes for the version installed in your game before relying on a claim that something is the latest adjustment.

Capcom’s September 16, 2026 showcase announced Insect Glaive ignition actions for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a major expansion planned for 2027. Those actions belong to the announced expansion, not the current base game. As showcased future content, they may also be adjusted before release; do not build a current base-game combo around them.
