Monster Hunter Wilds lets you edit text attached to many existing in-game stickers, which can make party messages useful, silly, or both. It does not let you create or upload new sticker images, and available examples of funny messages are anecdotes—not proof of a widespread trend or backlash.
How to add custom text to a sticker
In a guide published March 10, 2025, AUTOMATON WEST’s Carlos “Zoto” Zotomayor describes this menu route:

- Open the Start menu.
- Choose Communication, then open the Communication subtab.
- Highlight the communication item you want to change.
- Select Edit Text and enter your message.
The guide says the game notifies you that other players can view the text you edit. Menu labels can change with game updates.
What you can—and can’t—customize
The feature changes text associated with existing in-game communication items; it is not a sticker-image editor. The reviewed sources do not describe creating or uploading new images. The guide also notes that some stickers cannot have text attached and that Poses cannot be customized.

Monster Hunter Wilds includes voice chat, but the guide says it does not have traditional text chat. Shoutouts, Stickers, and Gestures are among the game’s other communication options.
Useful messages and goofy ones
Custom text can help make a party’s intentions clear. Zotomayor suggests messages for whether to capture or kill a monster, when placing a trap or Large Barrel Bomb, and when returning to camp to resupply. The same flexibility can also produce nonsensical or joke messages.
Players have shared jokes and reactions to custom sticker text on Reddit, including a thread titled “Reminder: You can put custom text in the Wilds stickers.” Those posts, along with the guide’s observations, are examples—not a representative measure of how often players use the feature or what the player base thinks of it. The available evidence does not establish a game-wide trend, broad objection, or official controversy.

PlayStation and Xbox storefront listings describe paid sticker-set DLC and say sticker text can be edited through Edit Shoutouts in the Stickers submenu. They do not establish that buying DLC is required to edit text on stickers you already own. Treat the packs as optional artwork, not a prerequisite for the text feature; each listing also requires the base game.
