For the hunt’s most dangerous mechanic, defeat the Nerscylla Clone as soon as Omega prepares Delta Attack: the clone generates a shield for the group. The harder Planetes Protocol (Savage) is a separate HR 100 event quest, and Capcom recommends taking it on in multiplayer.
How to unlock the Omega Planetes hunt
- Reach Hunter Rank 41 or higher.
- Complete the main mission What Lies Ahead (「行先」 in Capcom’s Japanese announcement). These are localized names for the same mission, not separate requirements. The special extra mission becomes available in Iceshard Cliffs; it introduces the crossover characters and leads into the Omega hunt. Capcom’s September 25, 2025 announcement and the English PlayStation Blog article both give the HR 41 threshold.
Omega Planetes is a machine-like frame from the Final Fantasy XIV world. The name distinguishes this version from other Omega frames.

How to organize the fight
Omega rewards a team that responds to tells and assigns simple jobs: one hunter can draw attention, while the rest create openings and handle mechanics. A particular weapon composition is not a stated requirement.
Draw and manage enmity
Capcom advises repeatedly attacking Omega’s head to draw its enmity. A red line indicates which hunter has its attention. That player can direct dangerous attacks and help create openings; a hunter who can guard is a useful choice for this role. If the targeted hunter has the HP Penalty debuff, Icy Veins recommends handing enmity to a teammate until it expires. This is coordination advice, not a mandatory tank assignment. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
Use barriers against the right attacks
Breaking head wounds or defeating glowing Omega Micros can create a defensive barrier on the ground. Breaking a leg can also provide Shield Generator slinger ammo, which lets a hunter place a barrier where it is needed; only one hunter can obtain that ammo from a given broken part. Icy Veins says barriers stop most beam and missile attacks, but not physical attacks such as Foot Slam or Body Slam. Treat them as protection from the attacks they counter, not as a universal safe zone. Capcom; Icy Veins.
Stop Delta Attack with the Nerscylla Clone
When Omega prepares Delta Attack, a Nerscylla Clone appears. Make the clone the team’s immediate priority: defeating it generates a powerful shield for you and your allies to shelter behind, according to the official English PlayStation coverage. Icy Veins warns that failing to defeat the clone quickly can lead to a team wipe. Watch for the tell, switch targets together, and use the resulting shield to survive the attack.

Respond to Pantokrator Mode
Capcom warns that Omega becomes extremely aggressive in Pantokrator Mode. Icy Veins says its attacks are empowered and that breaking three leg wounds deactivates the mode. The three-wound condition is the guide’s tactical detail, not a count specified in Capcom’s announcement. Capcom; Icy Veins.
How to prepare for the hunt
Icy Veins suggests Thunder-element weapons, with Paralysis as a secondary option. Its defensive recommendations include Fire Resistance, Divine Blessing, Stun Resistance, and Guard Up. These are options rather than universal requirements; choose equipment that suits your weapon, armor, and comfort with the encounter. The guide also recommends using environmental hazards such as boulders and walls.

The crossover’s Pictomancy action is available from the item bar and chains spells into Mog of the Ages, as described by PlayStation’s coverage. Icy Veins recommends making the Pictomancer item easy to access. Arrange the item bar before the fight if you plan to use it.
Should you attempt Planetes Protocol (Savage)?
Capcom lists Planetes Protocol (Savage) as a ★9 Iceshard Cliffs event quest requiring HR 100 or higher, with Omega Planetes as the clear condition. Capcom described the quest as multiplayer-recommended and said at launch that it would be permanently available from September 29, 2025. Those Savage adjustments and preparation suggestions come from Icy Veins’ guide; the rank requirement and multiplayer recommendation come from Capcom. Savage is the more demanding choice if you meet the rank requirement and can bring a coordinated group; the standard hunt is the available route for players progressing through the unlock.

Capcom says Omega materials can be used to make special hunter equipment, Palico equipment, and Seikret decorations. The Savage quest announcement specifically names Omega Costume α armor. PlayStation’s article describes several collaboration rewards: Dark Knight’s Bale Armor α with its Blackest Night barrier ability, the Shadowbringer Great Sword skill, and Soul of the Pictomancer item-bar actions.
