The PS5 open period began October 31 at 8:00 p.m. PT and ended November 3 at 6:59 p.m. PT. Players did not need PlayStation Plus for this period, but did need a PSN account. Capcom’s announcement also gave the early-access and PS5 open-period times as GMT and Japan Standard Time (JST): the starts were October 29 at 3:00 a.m. GMT / noon JST and October 31 at 3:00 a.m. GMT / noon JST, respectively. The corresponding listed ends were October 31 at 2:59 a.m. GMT / 11:59 a.m. JST and November 4 at 2:59 a.m. GMT / 11:59 a.m. JST. Capcom noted that start times could vary. Capcom USA’s PlayStation.Blog announcement has the original PS5 schedule.
When could Xbox and PC players join OBT1?
Xbox Series X|S and Steam/PC were included in OBT1’s open period, not the PS5 PlayStation Plus early-access window. Capcom’s Steam notice described the Steam test as live November 1 (GMT) through November 3 at 6:59 p.m. PST / November 4 at 2:59 a.m. GMT. That apparent date shift is a time-zone difference, so an October 31 PT start and a November 1 GMT date can refer to the same global opening. Capcom’s Steam announcement identifies the PC test and its stated times.

- Wild New Adventure – Monster Hunter Wilds follows the story of a special Research Commission investigating the Forbidden Lands. Fully voiced for the first time in the series, the hunter is joined in their journey by a colorful cast of characters, including a Palico partner, Guild-appointed Handler Alma, trusty smithy Gemma, and the mysterious child Nata. Together, the team ventures into an unexplored new frontier where surprises await around every corner.
- A Living World – The Forbidden Lands spans multiple biomes with dynamic identities, such as the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest, where the ecosystems shift between vibrant seasons brimming with life, and unforgiving climates where monsters fight over limited resources. Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that live there and push hunters to adapt as well.
- New Monsters and Wildlife – Monster Hunter Wilds features a variety of new creatures, ranging from herds of small species to large monsters – some of which roam the Forbidden Lands in packs. Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.
- Players can also now ride atop the Seikret, an agile new mount enabling hunters to traverse difficult terrain, perform actions like sharpening weapons on the move, and switch between two weapons while out on hunts!
- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
What were the OBT2 dates and start times?
Capcom announced two OBT2 sessions, each beginning on a Thursday at 7:00 p.m. PT: February 6–9 and February 13–16, 2025. The published schedule listed each session as ending Sunday at 6:59 p.m. PT. OBT2 covered PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam/PC. These are the announced times, not guaranteed final service times: Capcom’s Steam notice said they were approximate and subject to change, and a later final operating schedule is not established here.
The dates and times appeared in Capcom USA’s January 2025 PlayStation.Blog post and its Steam announcement.

- Hunt giant nature-infused bests – Survive their attacks, learn from their behaviors, and use your Karakuri and your weapons in combination to cut these creatures down to size.
- Craft your hunting grounds – You are the only one in Azuma able to wield the Karakuri technology.
- Hunt in a pack, or be a lone wolf – In WILD HEARTS you can face the Kemono alone or unite with up to two friends (or other players) to stalk and hunt your prey.
- Gear up to hunt, hunt to gear up – Create your character, then gather materials from each hunt and build an array of armor and weapons.
What did the betas include?
OBT1 included character creation, a story trial, and a Doshaguma hunt. Players could carry their character designs into the full release, but not their gameplay progress; the beta also allowed character creation to be redone.
OBT2 included that core content plus a Gypceros hunt. Capcom’s PlayStation announcement also discussed an advanced Arkveld quest and a training area. The Steam announcement cautioned that OBT2 used an older build and did not include planned launch improvements, so beta performance should not be treated as a measure of the released game’s optimization.
