A reported player distribution puts Escape from Tarkov’s PvE mode well ahead of its traditional PvP mode—but seasonal PvP remains the largest category. In figures attributed to Battlestate Games head Nikita Buyanov by IT之家 on 13 August 2026, 38% of players chose PvE, compared with 7% for traditional PvP and 55% for seasonal PvP. Read the dated report.
How many people play PvE in Tarkov?
The reported split was 38% PvE, 55% seasonal PvP, and 7% traditional PvP. It is a distribution of shares, not a headcount: the report does not specify the total number of players represented, how they were sampled, or the measurement period. Treat it as a reported snapshot rather than an audited census or a live player count.

Is Tarkov PvE more popular than PvP?
That depends on which PvP mode you mean. PvE’s 38% share is larger than traditional PvP’s 7%, but smaller than seasonal PvP’s 55%. The reported figures therefore support saying that PvE exceeded the traditional PvP mode—not that PvE was more popular than every PvP option or than PvP as a whole.

Adding the two PvP shares gives 62% as arithmetic from the reported figures, but that does not establish an independently verified combined PvP total. The report does not explain its denominator or whether the categories were measured over the same period.
What does the 38% figure tell you—and what doesn’t it?
It suggests PvE is a substantial part of the reported mode mix, not a tiny niche. It does not tell you how many people were playing, whether the share is typical over time, or how many players use PvE exclusively. Nor can it be treated as a current count: the report is dated 13 August 2026 and gives no exact measurement window.

Steam’s concurrent-player tracking is not a way to verify this mode split. The available SteamPulse observation is platform-specific and does not separate players by mode, so it cannot establish Tarkov’s PvE-only population.

Steam lists Escape from Tarkov: PVE Zone as downloadable content from Battlestate Games, released on 15 November 2025. The listing says the base game is required and identifies online co-op as a feature. Check the current Steam listing for regional availability and details.
