The Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns T-1000 gameplay trailer promotes a guest fighter who is already available as downloadable content. Its liquid-metal moves draw on Terminator 2: Judgment Day, though the trailer listing’s text does not identify the finishing move by name or describe its exact sequence.

What the T-1000 trailer shows

Warner Bros. Games’ official video is titled Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns – Official T-1000 Gameplay Trailer. The Steam News listing presents promotional gameplay footage, not a transcript, so its accessible text does not verify a precise play-by-play of the advertised brutal finishing move or establish an official move name. The broader character concept is clear: this is the liquid-metal assassin from Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), presented as a playable guest fighter and associated with Robert Patrick’s voice and likeness. Warner Bros. Games introduced him as post-launch content for Mortal Kombat 1. Warner Bros. Games’ Khaos Reigns announcement.

How the T-1000’s liquid-metal abilities become fighting moves

NetherRealm’s developers describe the T-1000 as an experimental android made of liquid-metal material, capable of reshaping itself into humanoid forms, objects, and simple weapons. The game translates that premise into attacks that change the fighter’s body rather than merely adding conventional weapons.

  • Origins Reimagined - Familiar characters return with all new intertwined histories, interacting in brand new ways.
  • New Kameo Fighters - Choose from a unique roster of Kameo fighting partners to assist you in battle.
  • Immersive Story Campaign - Fight through a brand new story featuring your favorite Mortal Kombat characters like you’ve never seen them before.
  • The Ultimate Fighting Franchise Returns - The Fight for Earthrealm is upon us. This is Mortal Kombat.
  • Forearms reshape into blades or hooks.
  • Fingers extend into needle-like points.
  • The T-1000 forms pistols for ranged attacks.
  • A special move pairs sprinting gunfire with a spear-arm lunge, recalling the hospital corridor sequence in the film.

Other attacks evoke the steel mill and the character’s fluid movement. The developers distinguish direct references to film moments from moves extrapolated to work as gameplay. They also considered how the liquid-metal fighter behaves when injured or dismembered in Mortal Kombat’s cinematic finishing moves. That explains the design challenge behind adapting him to the series’ violence, but does not confirm the exact contents of the trailer’s particular finisher. Read the Xbox Wire developer feature.

T-1000 release date and how to access the character

The trailer is a showcase for released DLC, not a preview of a future launch. Steam dates the standalone “MK1: T-1000” playable character pack to March 25, 2025. Its listing says the pack requires Mortal Kombat 1 on Steam; the base game alone does not include the character. Check the Steam T-1000 pack listing.

How the character fits into Mortal Kombat 1

Khaos Reigns was announced on July 26, 2024, as an expansion continuing the game’s post-launch content. T-1000 is a guest fighter from another franchise, rather than a base-game roster character. The publisher’s launch announcement quoted NetherRealm chief creative officer Ed Boon describing the expansion as a second year of content intended to continue the cinematic story, add fighters, and bring back popular features.
